Replacement Pickups for Cutlass

I have a cutlass HSS. I replaced the bridge. Pick up with a Demarzio super distortion which fills it out and works for me.

For the last year, I have been on the fence about the two single coil pickups. They sound OK but have some of the more annoying characteristics of Strat pickups in my opinion, they are a bit thin and clangy and I have been trying to EQ it with a couple different pedals to avoid replacing them.

But now I am looking for recommendations on single coil pickups for middle and neck that would give me a little more punch and a fuller fatter sound. Less of that high-end Strat rattle that just isn’t for me.

Thoughts?

The Cutlass has more of a vintage-output thing going on. If you're going heavier in the bridge and away from classic Strat tones, maybe look at some of the Dimarzio rail single coils with more output? The Chopper or one of the Fast Tracks? Lots of options there.

You could also reach out to Dimarzio for advice- they're pretty spot on with recommendations.

I put Bare Knuckle Slowhands in mine with a Bare knuckle Mule in the bridge, a huge improvement with 250k pots, completely analogue , no need for battery.

Thank you. I just ordered a set a bar knuckle Irish tour pick ups for middle and neck. I need to figure out what else to do, I will probably keep the 9V and the silent circuit. It’s taking a while to get the pick ups from the UK so I have a couple weeks. Thanks for all the feedback. Will report back.
