D Day tomorrow audition wish me luck

Tomorrow I am taking the SR5HH to my audition for a TSO tribute band. I have learned 5 songs for the audition and most of this stuff is very hard to learn. I will actually have to fake 2 parts to Wish Liszt just to get by.

Anyway, the SR5 is the weapon of choice for this kind of music not to mention it looks great. I have tobacco sunburst.

Pay attention to PLAYING, not the fine points of tone. NAIL IT.

The VIBE and GROOVE are what counts. A good bass player can project those things no matter what the circumstances, and no matter what the equipment.

If Tony Levin showed up in my basement practice space and I handed him my Bongo, I have NO doubt he'd kill without touching a single knob.

Requiem (Bethoven 5th)
Three Kings
Mad Russians
Wizards in Winter
Wish Liszt

Wish Liszt is the ultimate challeng of those 5. Very difficult and I have 2 small little snippets that have defeated me. The other songs were not as bad.

I would love to see someone play Wish Liszt note for note with the guitars like the original.

I will email anyone the file if you feel like a challenge. I am just not there yet.

I just googled TSO and drew a blank, other than the aforre-mentioned Trans Siberian Orchestra and the Tasmania and Toronto Symphony Orchestras. Who is this unknown band that has managed to spawn a tribute band worshipping it's tunes?

I'm pretty sure that by TSO he means Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

TSO is a group that plays sort of classical variations arranged with what one would consider "rock" instrumentation, usually with a backing local orchestra.

Wish Liszt is a medley of toy themes, nutcracker etc.

The spelling "liszt" is probably a nod to Franz Liszt, who is the most badass virtuoso pianist to EVER live.
....though I prefer Bartok on piano. Just because I'm crazy like he is.

That info probably isn't totally correct, but it's the best I could do.

He (Liszt) had large hands and would write music that only he could play. I understand he could spane to like an octave and a 3rd with one hand.

Update:

Audition was not great. At first one of the guitarist stopped playing right in the beginning of a song and turned around so I stopped playing then had to play catch-up.

Next they play the songs faster than the recordings that I listened to so it took some time to play catch up and catch on to the timing.

They play an extended ending to one of the songs and I just stopped playing.

The sound was bad initially and I repositioned myself to hear better.

I missed a few notes when I forgot the que since there were no singers for some of the songs.

I play much better than I did so I don't think this one will turn out too well but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Sorry that it didn't go as well as hoped. But stay positive, at least they didn't turn around and say you had no chance or something, maybe everyone else that showed was truly horrible, or they were playing fast as a test or something?
