If you don't care about being able to instantly switch, just crank your fine tuner down almost all the way (sharp) before you tune, then you'll have enough room to back down to D, without needing the D-Tuna. It just takes a few extra seconds to crank, but no unlocking required. :)

It's a handy little gadget. Definitely worth it if you switch back 'n forth between songs.

I have the D-tuna on all of my Floyd equipped guitars and it's great. Easy to set up and works well. I bought a box of them when they where first released.

My Axis is d-Tuna equipped too, and I find it a really handy gadget - I don't use it all that often any more (I drop down for "Rock This Town" still ;) ), but it's nice to have when you want to drop-D.

I agree with what's been said. D-Tuna = Great.

Some people will complain that theirs doesn't work right, that it won't keep the string in tune, etc. Honestly, it's a very simple device so very little can go wrong with it but it has to be set up correctly every time you change your strings. Once you do this, it works like a champ. But if you don't set it up right, it won't work well and you might as well not have it.

Follow the set up directions when you change your strings and you'll be fine. After one or two times you'll just know how to set it up and you'll do it automatically.
