hi community,

I have an existantial question :rolleyes:

Is it possible to put a D-tuner on Stingray 5 E string for change BEADG on BDADG :confused:

i'm afraid about the clearance between the B string and the D-tuner on E string

It's not going to work because of the way it is built. You can put it on, but won't be able to use it because the switch will stop right when it hits the B string's tuning peg...

Besides, if you are going to be playing in Drop D, it's so much easier IMO to just play out of 3rd position (everything starts on the 3rd fret).

thats not correct, I bought an SR5 from a guy once that had a d-tuner on the b string and it worked perfectly, toy could easily drop a half or whole step without it hitting anything. It's not really useful but it's kinda cool to fool with and it's your bass do with it what you want.

It's not always that simple. I've contemplated trying the same thing because some tunes that were written in drop-D are much more difficult to play in 3rd position on the B-string. A couple tunes by Soundgarden, Audioslave, and Tool are darn near impossible to play correctly without that open low D string.

I found this also, my band plays in drop d alot and I used to play a 5 string and it was impossible to keep up, so I went back to a 4 string and hipshot. All is right with the world again!:D
