Been sitting here noodling and I stopped to just look at my bass. The shape...the way the light catches the contours....

This is one outstanding piece of industrial design IMHO. Its true beauty doesn't come across in pictures. The most intriguing angles are not those that get photographed.

Just lookng straight down at it when it's in playing position is one such angle...if you've never picked up a Bongo you'll be surprised at that like I was. The way the belly cut moves up to the upper horn from behind is another.

But most striking is the overall BMW design influence, the way that curving sharp lines blend into smooth contours. This is accentuated by some finishes, such as DG.

The thing is friggin' gorgeous.

I'm a happy, happy man.

The repeating curves always kill me. Themes are repeated in the headstock and the inlays on the fretboard and the curves of the horns.

But most striking is the overall BMW design influence, the way that curving sharp lines blend into smooth contours.

Having seen the unadulterated BMW sketches and the early Bongo design, my hat's off to the EBMM design fellows for taking what really looked like an unworkable prototype and turning it into a real-life work of art.

The thing is friggin' gorgeous.

I'm a happy, happy man.

Word, my friend.

I have never had anyone here say anything bad about my Bongo 5.

Wish I could say the same about the player.

I do love mine.

Nah. I was talking to a friend of mine about how great a day it was. First day of college football. Me and my lady screaming at the TV. Auburn winning. WAR EAGLE! :D

...I should get a shower though. :p

Bongos are sexy.

I really like playing my new SRHH, but I must admit I prefer the ergonomics of the Bongo. Of course one would hope that a modern design would have some improvements when compared to a 30 year old design or else why bother?

Man, I almost walked out of the local GC today with a Bongo. They had two nice HH Bongos. One was a Candy Red Bongo 5 with white pearloid PG. The other was a Black Sapphire Bongo 4 with, I think, Moonstone. They had a pretty good deal on both, I think.

I also tried a trans red Sterling with black pearloid. There was what I think was lava pearl SR5H with white pearloid. There were two SR5H that I thought were desert gold with some copper pickguard. Then, there was a SR5HH honey burst, I think, with tort.

I wanted them all! But really, I almost walked out with one of the Bongos.
