As cool as Steve's #1 is, I'm surprised that he or his guitar tech doesn't clean the dust and stuff from around the pickups. Maybe he's too busy playing it and traveling with it to even think about that. Or, he just needs a full supply of Wonder Wipes.

Candid - there is actually a cool story about the white stuff around the neck pickup from one of the Y2D session videos. Steve was trying to get a specific feedback sound in the studio from the monitors back in the 80's. So, being the experimenter that he is, had been hearing about wax potting and decided to just pour some silicon around the pickup, which eventually got him the sound he wanted. The mess between the bridge and the bridge pup is a pg cutout where the synth pickup goes in (SMB gigs) and out (Deep Purple gigs).:)

Don't know what to say about the dust between the singles though ;)

I dropped my custom Peavey guitar two weeks after I got it all done. I was SOOOOO upset. It was pretty bad - worse than yours! I promptly put strap locks on it and have put them on every guitar since then... It's well worth the dough!

Yeah it would be interesting, if he does his work himself aside from the touring business.

On the last Purple Tour in Germany, which was this year in August, I saw a big box of Wonder Wipes on the tech´s place :)

...just kiddin' ;)

Steve has a tech - last name was "Berger" or so. Both were featured in one of the German guitar magazines of the last months. Don't have them at hand at the moment...

Let's see what'll be around when I see them here in November...
