So I bought a SUB4 when they first came out, loved it! Only thing that bothered me was the neck was a bit fat and the non contoured body bothered my forearm. So I found a used Sterling and bought it. Felt great! Love the neck, love the small body. Immediately moved my SUB4 to backup duties and never looked back. Until...

I sent my Sterling in to my Tech for a well needed setup, jammed last night and used the SUB4 for the first time in like a year. God! It sounded good! Loved the grind, it was bright and bassy.

Now what? Any thoughts on settings to make my Sterling a little more SUB4 (or I guess Stingray)ish? I can't go back to the SUB full time as it really starts to hurt, and I LOVE the way the Sterling plays.

what to do :(

There were Sterling SUBS made.

IIRC, ignoring cosmetics, the Ray SUB was pretty much a Ray 2-band
minus the body contours .... howeber the Sterling SUB was simply the
3-band version of the Ray SUB ... IOW, no slender Sterling neck, nor a
smaller body, nor a ceramic PU [etc]. IOW the Ray SUB was a real Ray
but the Sterling SUB was no-ways a real Sterling.

If the thick Ray neck hurts your hand, but you wanna play a Ray, you
gotta find you an SLO Special ... no easy trick, but worth at least a try.

Or you can get the neck shaved on the SUB, which is also opportunity
to put a regular MM type finish/nonfinish on it [oil-wax mix].
