Argh, I have been musicman-less for too long!
Of all the MM basses I have owned, I think the Sterling was my favorite. I've been playing a plastic necked bass (I won't mention the manufacturer lol) for a couple years now. I like it, but in essence it is just a stingray copy.
There is a real "family" kind of feel to the musicman brotherhood, and the participation on the e-boards from the top on down from the company, is spectacular. Over the last couple of years, I've seen EB make tremendous efforts to make their products 100%, whether it was new, used, 4th owner, or what have you.....they want their owners happy, and their products at 100%. The martini green flame bongo is amazing, and an unbelievable gesture of kindness, and gratitude for it's supporters that I have never seen from any other manufacturer, of ANY product. All this, and I am still unable to buy a needed electronics cover, or a copy of the original build sheet after 2 years of trying from the plastic neckers.
PS, if you look back to most of the old bongo bashing posts, I was shortly behind the fearless bongo leader, usually delivering a blow or two while they were down from Jack's verbal ass-ripping
I have a custom I am putting together at the moment, and as soon as that is done, Jack......expect a call from me to discuss what I need to buy to be back in the fold!
You guys are great, and I look forward to putting my mits back on a REAL Music Man!
