Hi, just wondering if anybody was familiar with the above shop?
A guy in another forum tipped me off about a used lefty Axis Super Sport,so i've been in touch with them about shipping to the UK.
It took a while but eventually they replied, the guitar is $995 and shipping will be $218 which seemed a bit high, could that have something to do with them being based in Honolulu as opposed to being on the mainland?
The other thing that's bothering me is the length of time it takes them to reply to an email,it's usually at least a week,to say they're expecting an email from me strikes me as being unprofessional.
So now i'm in two minds whether to pull the trigger on it,it seems a shame not to as i've been after one for nearly a year, but it's these little niggles that are putting me off.
So has anybody had any dealings with them? if so opinions are most welcome.

Thanks

They will have to insure the guitar for $995 and that will up the postage cost.
If you go to the UPS or Fedex site and try their on line postage calculator you will see what I mean.
Good luck with the transaction -let's see it when you get it (put some money away for customs charges;) )

yes i go to that store often. it's a small shop, and dan is super cool. I don't think they are heavily based on email/web business so i wouldn't be completely suprised if they don't check their email often.

shipping is expensive from hawaii to anywhere or VV, especially international.

I'll vouch for Dan.

A couple years back, I was in his shop asking if he had an Axis since I wanted to try one out. He didn't have any in stock. But he went in back and brough out his own, personal EVH and let me take it home for a few days to audition. No deposit, no nothing, he just took down my name and phone no. How cool is that? The end of that story is that I liked the EVH so much that I placed an order through him for the Axis SS that I now have.

I've seen that lefty Axis SS. And even played it a little bit about 2-3 weeks ago. Or at least I tried to, which wasn't easy since I'm right-handed. :) I think it's a trans gold, HH, maple fretboard, trem, can't remember if the headstock is matching.

After your recommendation I think i'm going to go for it,these are the figures i've worked out for the overall cost in £.

Guitar=£524 + around 22% customs charges = £115 plus another £115 shipping brings it to a total of £774,which I don't think is bad considering a new one goes for £1400 over here.
Do these figures seem correct?

You're pretty lucky to find a dealer that'll ship to the uk tbh, I had to go to usa to get my beaut. (I didn't go just for the guitar...)

The guy from the shop described it as being "Hardtail" i'll be honest I don't know what that means,is it something to do with the bridge?

I've sent him an email about completing the transaction hopefully he'll get around to reading it sooner rather than later, unless Eilif or ChrisAllen fancy giving him a reminder next time there in his shop.

I was there today and took some snapshots. Unfortunately, Dan was on the phone the entire time I was there, so I didn't get to shoot the breeze with him. But here's the guitar. The bridge is a standard (i.e., no trem). It's got some nice flame!

That AL, by the way, has been hanging there on the wall since at least Fall 2003. Someone should adopt it and give it a nice home.

Oh man!

If I were some kind of jerk, I'd swoop in and pick up the lefty Axis under everyone's noses! However, I am not; so my encouragement goes to you to get buying that thing! It's a stellar prrice, and it looks pretty damned tasty. Good luck on it!

Templeton, did you end up getting the guitar? I noticed it isn't at Dan's Guitars anymore. If so, how did the transaction go, and how do you like the guitar?
