Add Mine: Serial # E58905

I guess it's about time for me to drop this one in here for posterity.

Serial # E58905 and I'd love to know it's history, original/previous owners and travels.

A couple quick questions:

1) has anyone identified a suitable, matching (or close enough) touch up paint or nail polish? I have a couple very small chips on a lower edge I'd love to seal up.

2) Were the original PG screws on the DD1 black or silver? In the pics I see they can lean either way.

Hi Jim. Great to know. The one on mine are certainly black but time has not been kind. So I since I will have both colors available to me and I'll try them both to see which I prefer. Thank you. New PG OTW as well.

Here's mine. Sterling 4HH. It took me a loooong time to find one. I was after an HS but the HH is "acceptable" :)

Just discovered this thread... 2 months ago i bought a DD1 SR5 HH from a seller named billesq123 on ebay. It's apparently one of 23 in that pickup configuration. EBMM customer service said it was completed 3/20/2007 and was originally shipped to Bass Central. No idea how many other owners may have had it before me, but it's in near-perfect condition (9.5/10, one small ding on the body).

E58485 is still my number one bass. Always will be.

I never updated the pic here with the new pickguard. I cut this from a slab of Chinese faux-abalone cellulose... highly flammable and very difficult to work.

I'm awaiting arrival of mine E58928: "This Dargie Delight StingRay 5 was completed on March 26th, 2007. The color is Martini Olive Green with the Rosewood fretboard & matching headstock. It was originally shipped to Bass Central."

I've been in love with this scheme since seeing one used by a bassist in my favorite local band when I lived in Portland OR. (Which has had me lurking here periodically.) So, time to join the club.

The ebay pics look nice, and the guy I'm buying it from said he wouldn't even wear a belt or a shirt with buttons when he played it...

I've got to say it has been interesting reading through the different stories of these basses, but I feel like I'm still missing a good number of them, so I'll plug away at the search function. I hope I'm able to find time to play, I think I'll like being in the club.

Did you know your Dargie is already Forum known?

And I still have a DD1 5HS (1 of 3 made) that I managed to wrestle from the above poster a couple of years ago - I probably will be buried with it, or I might will it back to Jack, I haven't decided yet. I almost sold my DD2 Bongo 5Hp a couple of months ago but now that Bongo 5H's are discontinued, very happy I didn't.

I am fortunate to also have a DD1 5HS. My absolute go to live and studio. Has a milestone birthday coming up next week (pics to follow....).

I still have an original Dargie Delight Bongo 5H. Can't beat those martini inlays!

Fun seeing this thread bumped again.

That 5H has been in my custody for about a year. Still the best bass I've ever touched.

Would be awesome if they made the Bongo 5H option available one last time with a DDIII. I'd try to get two (one fretless)...
