Boost,

That's a fun idea, but I doubt it will happen.. too cost prohibitive for EBMM. With Big Poppa you never know.. he may well do something equally generous somewhere down the road, but to do this sort of thing annually would probably just clog up the works. Honestly, I can't figure out how they're getting any 'normal' production instruments made this year.. what with all the 30th StingRays, 20th Silos, Dargie Delights, and black & gold LE instruments.

now if we had one of these a year offered to forum members special colour and stuff wow!! i think that is the only possible way to top this!!!

my thanks the big guys in the ernie ball sky!!

I don't see a need to "top" this. This is pretty special in and of itself.

Since they've already said that it's not really a money maker (even when it was offered outside of the forum to bump up production numbers), a forum only offer is cost prohibitive, to say the least.

I'm just going to enjoy what they've already done as opposed to asking, "What else ya got?"

+1 - even though I wasn't in a position to purchase one during either windows, I just love being part of a family and community where the guys at the top are willing to do things like that - even if I don't get to benefit from them myself. It says a lot about what they do, and the fact they clearly love it - and I love that my bass has a little bit of that love in even if it's not a DD :D

+1... we've already gone down this road. We couldn't decide on a forum color to save our ass (try a search - the thread I'm thinking of is quite humorous).

What is cool about the DD's is that BP took a flyer for some of us. He saw the interest of a few (and in the scheme of things it is a SMALL FEW) and said "What the hell!" AND he DID top it by keeping the cost down for us (think bout it, he could have jacked the price, but NO! he kept it under his special edition prices ). To me, being a lowly, poor teacher, that is looking out for his customers. AND, lets face it... look at the production numbers... even if they tack 100-200 more on to them, it is essentially a forum/EBMM collector color. Boost, not to sound like an asshat, but just be happy with what is there and that BP and Co. were generous enough to even try this.

Yeah, this really was a gift, it couldn't be a money maker. I play MM basses because they're the best instruments I've ever played. I love 'em because of the company!

We are BP, we are :)

I for one, am quite happy with the picture of the HS Sterling you had at NAMM... I'll print out a life-sized copy of it and pretend it's real - that will do me quite nicely :D

I need a hug BP

careful though, I'm a sailor...

But seriously, as one of the lucky ones getting a one off piece, I am very thrilled about the DD and very impressed with EBMM's generosity and ABSOLUTELY GENUINE CONCERN for their customers. Not many manufacturers out there, in ANY industry, will take it in the shorts and make a product, that all indicators said will not do well, just to keep a few knuckleheads happy.

And because of this, I feel no need to even consider other brands of basses. BP and EBMM has my needs covered!

ahhhh :)

it is pretty awesome that they did the DD. it went from "please guys" to "hmmm" to a cool new design (y'all know the details) to protptype to "ok, you can order it now" soooo quick. these guys at MM have skillz :)

I work in software... so when we do stuff we don't need to prep spray booths, cnc machine, talk to vendors etc... we just have to type. but even in that world its been pretty rare that we'll do "one off" features or "bolt ons" for a small customer. Not that we can't but it would screw with the dev calendar, shift man hours of the current "path" etc. So imagining an instrument company that's putting out a LOT of new models (20th, 30th, 06 LE, 2 PUPs), selling a lot of their current line, doing RnD (check teh guitar side for some hints), then on top of that introducing something new just cuz they're cool is super impressive. Its not that they had "free time" on their hands and the upcharge on these isn't big either... BP, Scott n crew did this 'cause they're rad :)

no one does this kind of stuff... except for "Pops 'n the Gang" (TM) :)

I know man... and I appologize (really) - please just chalk it up to playing out late last night, being REAL hung-over this morning and not being in the right frame of mind (I am still trying to figure out how/why my E and G strings are broken and how I ended up with ALL of the band's money :) )

This Mustached Mona's 'slip' was pure misunderstanding of the original reinstatement of the ordering window being opened......uh...ya......

While the tendency to raise my hand and declare myself guilty has been beaten into me by a number of wives and the United States military-industrial complex, I must at this point say that I completely blame the Dude.

There is no real reason or justification for doing so, as he was completely out of that particular loop of the ordering process....and yet this is exactly what I am doing.

Dude. He did it. It was his fault. He was laughing the whole time, too.
