Hi Dargin, I was just wanting to know your thoughts regarding your Aguilar 1x12"s and the potency of a single 12 and dual single 12 cabs. for volume and girth compared to a 2x10" or a 4x10"????

thanks for any and all feedback

Can't speak to 1x12 but I do have 2 Silverado Specials 2x12's - I did a side by side with a Superreadhead (2x10) and I loved the 2x12 for its thump. The 2x10 had a faster response but you could just feel lows better with the 2x12 - great funk sound. The 2x12 more than keeps its own vs. a 2x10 - but has some trouble up against a good 4x10.

I've got two Aguilar 1x12s and I like 'em. I bought them from Jack Read who praised them for their mid range response (good for fretli). Relatively inexpensive too. They're comparable to my older Eden 2x10 cabs in volume but 20 lbs lighter. They're warmer, fatter than the Edens but still punchy. Of course the Edens are pretty old. I use one 12 for rehearsals but always gig with two of them. I really like the versatility of small cabs. I can run one @ 8 ohms, two @ 4 ohms and even both Aggies & both Edens by running the amp in stereo.

Some people claim they don't reproduce a low B so well. I'm not in a postion to say.

This is hard to answer in a comprehensive way, but I'll give you this:
When getting my current rig (2xAggie GS112) I tried GS212, GS410, EBS 212, Eden 2x10 XLS, 1x12 (Whizzer cone), SWR 2x10 & 4x10, Ampeg 4x10 & 8x10 and a bunch of other speakers, and two GS112 won hands down. They cut through well on stage, have a relatively neutral sound, are easy to carry and as a side benefit our drummer can have one cab all by himself.
Two GS112 driven by a 500 W amp is plenty loud for all the situations I have found myself in, but then I only rely on my amp for stage volume.

I think I might beleaning towards the 2 1x12"s in the near future, the GK Neo212 I had was a great cab too.

I liked mine alot, but something blew inside after the first couple days. Try and locate a Mark Bass rig, those things KILL. They aren't yet available in the US, but I'm pretty sure Canada gets them.

ya, I was borrowing an older Little Mark head and their 2nd generation 4x10"(weighed the same as an Eden 2x10") and was going to be using it alot more with some upcoming clinic/DVD stuff but the long and short of it is that a friend of mine came along who was alot more supportive and proactive for the whole project and so we've hooked up with him and the company he works for (our guitarist is already an endorsee of theirs) anywho. the Mark Bass stuff is great and unfreakin'believably light and loud

I've had an Epifani T-112NYC for a while and used it for a few small gigs. It lacked a lot of mid. Just before Xmas I added an Epi UL110. That is a killer combination with my stock SR5. Clear, deep, loud and punchy. I'm amazed that the T-112 can handle low B so well.

there is a guy in Toronto who sells the Mark Bass rigs. www.clubbass.ca. I've never shopped there but I've been thinking about one of these rigs too...
