Aaarggggggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!

In the first part of the video I thought it was damn nice then I saw the neck and it's F***ING AWESOME!!!!!

Does it have piezo too? How many people do I need to smother with chloroform to get my hands on that bass?

Ok, I'm obviously missing something. What's the story??

We had a big celebration in Dallas nearly two years ago, Robert. It was my 50th birthday and it was time for a Forum Bash so we combined the two in a rather spectacular way.

Most of the guitars/basses that showed up had to come through my house either upon arrival or upon departure.

(By the way, after dropping some serious guitars off at the airport, here's a question you never want to hear: "Jack, do you know where Luke's guitars are?")

Anyway, Dave's Bongo was here for a bit so I took some glamour shots before shipping it off to SLO for some maintenance.

Pretty beast, isn't it?

You can see by the back that it does have piezos.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a production model like this one, but you can have a lot of fun just looking at the photos!

Having held that bass, I can tell you that I would feel completely comfortable letting Mr. LaRue haul my big, unconscious arse from a burning building.

My friend Corey found this quote on a bicycle blog:

"Asking how much a beautiful, sensible, comfortable bike weighs is like asking a beautiful, sensible, easygoing person the dimensions of their sex organs. Especially if you ask in the first 30 seconds. It’s not that you can’t be curious, but it’s sort of a vulgar preoccupation whose real significance to happiness is vastly overstated."

I'm more sensitive to weight than I used to be ("Hello, my name is middle age and I'm here to make your life miserable"), but I still love that quote.

That is one gorgeous bass!!! It's enough to turn this Stingray Boy into a Bongoloid.

Good point.

I ask because my shoulder STILL hurts from the Peavey T-40 I owned 29 years ago.

PS: I'm glad you didn't tell me it was really light, because I would have had to go curl up in a corner somewhere and whimper.

PPS: Another great bicycle quote:

"All bikes weigh 50 pounds. Here's why:
A 50-pound bike doesn't need a lock. Nobody will bother stealing it.
A 35-pound bike needs a 15-pound lock. Any more than that is a waste.
A 20-pound bike needs a 30-pound lock or it'll disappear faster than your paycheck."

Ahhhh, it's all clear now. Based on the fact that the photos you posted were obviously taken at your house, I thought maybe you'd either bought or been given Dave's bass at some point.

Too bad the Birthday Party/Forum Bash was before my time here. Must've been a blast.
