Holy smoke, Smelly, so the DaveB thing was arranged from the beginning? Way cool work DaveB, and now finally everyoe is happy happy happy:D
This is so ass kicking cool! Huge congrats on the Al, I can not play guitar worth **** but I do know instruments, and that is by far the nicest guitar I have ever held in my hands, again congrats on the sweetness!
You did order a back plate at the same time I hope?

Maybe we'll play something at the bash next year, huh?

Shame ya not going to the bash Smelly - I'm "entertaining" x million pounds worth of consultants at the mo and need to make an excuse to slip away on Tuesday, I think I'll delegate some duties. - it'll be a longish trip for me too but I gotta see Mr Morse in that environment!!

HE HE - Told you it was worth it!

This is the only BFR AL I've heard seen and touched, I always thought that buying a BFR would be subjective and down to an individuals tastes.

So this was the obvious choice. I bought a bunch of tickets for the raffle, not to win but it was a good way for us UK folks to donate to the CLB, when strummer won I got my name ont the "Should you ever sell list" - and I managed to broker a deal between DaveB and him to get him his bass -(Some weird EBMM - I don't know - odd things!!!!:D)

I worked 52hours overtime last month, that in tandem with me being grumpy as hell since mid-June that I didn't have a BFR AL made this decision easy.

It's a special guitar for lots of reasons, and the whole "I was there" experience is enhanced by getting this, for those who don't know it's signed by poppa on the back of the headstock and also signed by Poppa, Brian & Scott on the back plate. and it's got to be one of the suckiest tops I have seen on any guitar, and it's mine, mine, all mine (Dr Evil Laugh goes here!)

When I bought my DD Luke I thought I'd never spend anything close to that amount again on a guitar, but I'm drawn back to EBMM again and again the top on this AL is SOooooooooooo Sexy it worries me! - I've spent more than I have but I'd do it again in a heartbear to get this guitar, this was beyond the chase - this was almost obsession!

I'll probably thin out some of my collection when I get my BFR because I can see my Axis, Luke & BFR AL (with the blue one as a spare!) - as being all the tools I'd ever need. I did post a thread named got the tools but - where I called into play my playing ability over spending cash on guitars, bottom line - it's a short life kids, gotta make the most of it, do what makes you and those around you happy, this would be my happy time....

Thanks to all those who made it happen - DaveB, Strummer, Beth Blind Lemon, and Mike @ GAK for putting the idea in my head, I'm afraid I can't make it to the Steve Morse clinic which I'm gutted about but it's too far and work is mental right now, and I need to focus my attention there and at home (if only to make up for spending so much cash on a guitar!!!)

For those who didn't get to the
UK bash.....

Cheers

Congrats Mike, this must really be a dream come true. The BFR AL looks amazing and it's obviously a really special guitar what with it's story and all.

Can't beat new guitar day - enjoy! :D

Just to put the record straight - this wasnt worked out from the beginning. It was a possibility at one point - but I told Smelly that if he didnt want it then I would get the guitar and always give him first choice. He then came back to me and I was more than happy to let him have it. After all I have a Koa BFR Axis Super Sport to keep me warm!

Dave

P.S. 1 sleep to Steve Morse clinic - sure hope I havent forgotten anything!

I was going to guess that you were speaking of a toilet seat, and that was 'code' for telling us you bought a Bongo! :D

ahhhh the ALOC code! Steeped in mystery and intrigue.

I thought it was "Spud - I'll see you at the clinic and all drinks and cigars are on me".

I must have de coded the message incorrectly.
