Hi all this is my first post. I need a question answered about a certain bass so i turn to all of you!

I've been trying to secure Bongo 4 string single humbucker for what seems like a very long time. I live in montreal, where there is only 1 major dealer who carries ernie ball (steves). They have been sold out on bongos for a very long time, and ordering from the company would take months. So i looked up other steves music stores in toronto and was very excited to find a dawn blue bongo 4 string single humbucker for 1600. Now heres where the confusion is.

I was told that this is a limited addition color and therefore its more expensive, and i was also told its a brand new model im getting. Now how can a 2007 dawn blue bongo be brand new? Its from 2007 that means its used, no? Am i being lied to?

Also, assuming i am in fact being lied to and the instrument is used but in good condition, is that a good price to pay? thanks in advance for all replys.

Blue Dawn was the limited edition colour for 2007. I don't know for certain about pricing, but I think there was a slight upcharge (someone will know for sure).

Just because the bass is from 2007, doesn't make it a used bass. I believe the term commonly used is New Old Stock, basically, it's been in the store for a few months, but it's not used.

2007 LE Blue Dawn is a nice color, yes it will be more expensive and yes it is most likely new, several MM dealers still have them in stock, work a deal well worth it.

Very nice basses, i believe 4 string single H is the one sterling favours most too ;)

Also guitar shops tend to carry stock for quite some time sometimes, particularly if it has a higher price tag. That bongo will most likely be new, it'll just have been there for a while is all. Put some new strings on there, you've got a new bass.

For the record the bass cellar in London, England has 30th SR4's (from '06), 20th SR5s (from '07) and SUB basses (were discontinued in '06/'07 i believe) that are new, and have just been sat in the shop for a couple of years. I guess it really doesn't help that the prices are stupidly high in that particular shop and the sales staff are wankers and won't let you try anything unless you intend to buy ON THE SPOT and don't look scruffy (which most of us musos do at the best of times). Sorry for the rant there, it's an issue that's been playing on my mind a bit, a shame really because they have some lovely basses in there. Have words with 'em BP ;)

I bought a brand new Blue Dawn Bongo a few months ago! Come on, don't you want to be like me?

You guys are killin me (especially you, Jack and Ritch ... ok, especially you Ritch, with an '07 LE 4H for sale!!). My Stealth is in transit, hope to get it Monday. So right about now I've got the Knucklehead's version of that feeling you get when you've REALLY got to go, you've been holding it for too long, and you're finally approaching the toilet & aren't sure you'll make it in time. Ya know that feeling?

Don't think, huskie. Just grab it. Work a deal, of course, but make sure you get it. Or get Ritch's. I'm tempted, but my heart's set on Sterling Silver for my future Bongo 4H.

Case in point, I suppose? :D

I've been in Steve's, huskie. That's a cool store. I used to live a few blocks from there (lived/worked in Montreal on a contract job for about a year). It's a fun city. Get that bass!

OK Here is the fine line I skate......I dont want to take a sale away from any forumite or dealer BUT....after one year there are no geographical boundries placed on a dealer for stuff no langer offered by us. If a Dealer still has a 2007 LE he has probably already baked one birthday cake for it and there will be some that may want to give you a deal.....keep posting Check with some ofthe other dealers and score the BD BP BOngo

No fine line at all. The buyer needs to be happy with what they get and that usually means that they feel they are getting the best deal possible for what they want (that SO cuts down on buyers remorse) - I would love to sell mine (I'd love to keep it too :) ) - but I want who ever gets it to be happy with their decission. Worst case senario is there is another BLUE DAWN bongo out there... and that isn't a bad proposition at all. I think it is cool that there are several options here.

I've heard that, but have no idea whether it's accurate or not.

Oh, and it's a 5 HSp!
I'm sure it was you that said it! :p Or possibly BP

And awesome, i couldn't tell whether it had piezos or not from that angle. I'd quite like to try an HSP one day but the HH with 4 band EQ confused the hell out of me to start with!

At first, all the knobs confused me.

(I don't know why I felt obligated to start that sentence with "at first".)

It is a damned Knob Farm! Couple of weeks ago I went to go for "all bridge" and got "all piezo" and couldn't figure out what the hell I'd done.

If I could write that small, I'd Sharpie the little knobs with their function.
