I love this forum. For the most part, it's pretty cool. Downside is having to remove people's posts, etc. and I usually feel bad about having to do it.

It's always great when you're polite to someone and they act like a total douche in return. Sterling suggested I share this one so you can see what we're up against some of the time.

Hi there,

Unfortunately I had to pull your ad and wanted to let you know why. To keep this place from being like ebay, etc., posting for sale ads is limited to contributing members with many posts. This is also in an effort to keep the trust level high for these kinds of transactions.

Anyhow, just wanted to explain. Hope you understand.

Cheers,

Beej

Know I don't agree, my ad was fine. This is the second time I have been harrased on this forum and it is without a doubt absolute bull****. I won't contribute anything now didn't know it was a written policy, show me don't tell me about what you think, handling this in such a way to piss me off and I will not be back again. I am on loads of other forums with out any issues but here so jamm it!

Needless to say, I told him not to let the door hit him on the way out ...

For the life of me I can't figure out why people get so bent out of shape over this stuff. I should start a blog with all of the PMs I get like that.

Edit: Hah! Might as well share the update-

Not a problem. Consider yourself banned.

Please do forward the conversation. Most have read it. The ones who haven't could use the laugh.

I hope the folks at "head office" don't come down on me too hard. Lol.

Damn Beej, I'm sure the gig isn't all it's cracked up to be. Sorry to hear it.

Its crazy the abuse that gets slung around....You know this guy probably had zero intention of prticipating just felt entitled to use our for sale service.

Once again on the for sale and the thread count...this is the choice of the active participants....This is not my rule. I am happy to do whatever you guys want regarding the for sale

There's always gonna be someone...

I think you were very polite about it...plus there are notices and sticky threads with the rules in them. Not your fault if people choose not to read them.

I've never had a problem with any of the mods. You guys spend a lot of time doing the job and getting nothing in return. The least I can do is offer my respect and gratitude.

So, a big thank you to you and the rest of the mods.

Hopefully this guy was just having a bad day. It's hard to beleive anyone would react this way after beej's explanation (a very reasonable and non-threatoning explanation). As somebody that often looses focus over the small stuff, I recommend this member take a deep breath and turn on the TV for a few minutes of updates from Haiti, Iraq, or Afghanistan. That will help put this into perspective.

Bro...I have been here for many years and you would not believe some of the things being posted here...hahah..I have even gotten involved in some of them. Pops can tell you of a certain Battle of the Bands post long ago. The list goes on and on.

People can get mad all they want. They don't foot the bill here. They can whine and stomp their feet and claim to be on loads of other forums. Well then, post your "for sale" adds there. It has been stated many times to keep the for sale stuff here as EBMM only. Not hard to follow.

Beej....sorry you get that kind of crap. I know you and I know you are a super cool dude. Some people just don't get it and feel entitled as I am sure you see. Keep up the great work!

This is the only forum that I belong to so I can’t say a word about other forums.

I keep my nose clean and avoid posting negative words. I believe most of us here do the same but there are alway a select chosen few who stir the pot and live on a slippery slope. I can think of 2 recent members that I now believe are gone. I’m sure you all know the 2 I’m talking about.

I admire what the mods do and we don’t see what they really do on a daily basis.

You do a great job beej!

That's too bad when people react like that. It's a privilege to be able to sell here, FREE of charge! I've been on other forums where the same system gets abused, but I think it's worth it in the end. If I am buying a used piece of gear, I'd feel much more comfortable about doing so with someone that has been around and I've had the chance to interact with or at least get a feel for how the board feels about that person.

I mentioned this once before to a mod here, but one forum I am a member of instituted a password system to even access the For Sale section. To get the password, you had to PM a mod. Yes, it's a little more work, but that forum has zero issues I am aware of with Sale spammers.

Maybe you should lock the for sale thread and create a replacement with a more clear title -- "Guitars for sale -- CONTRIBUTING/LONGTERM MEMBERS ONLY***" or something similar.

You're a good mod, Beej.

If you ask me our mods suck as much as the tops on the BFRs! I really feel like people really do not grasp that this place is a private forum that BP funds and their membership in a million other forums carries no weight here. I am a member of some other forums and there are so many self entitled snobs out there. I like how BP runs his ship and it is one of the reasons why as of late he is getting my $

The bass side is a little quieter, USUALLY.

We've certainly had our moments, though.

Oh, and Beej is a jack-ass. I'm Jack and I should know.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, and I don't know if the forum software even allows for it, but the only other forum I'm a member at, Head-Fi.org, has a for sale section that can't be accessed until you reach a combination of the required number of posts plus time as a member. Once you reach that quota you are able to access that section of the forum. It seems to work really well.
