A couple days ago I found my cat Tama dead. He died out of the blue and we hadn't had any indication that anything was wrong with him. I dont have any children myself but, we do 5 dogs and now only 1 cat. These animals are EVERYTHING to me, they are our children.

Every time I walk near the area I found his body the wind is knocked right out of me and I feel so powerless.

I wish I could get those images out of my head of him like that. I really did everything I could including trying to administer CPR but he was already too far gone.

Hug your pets tonight people, as well as your loved ones. You never know when they'll unexpectedly be gone. :(

so sorry for your loss... this is never easy. Especially when they're integrated into your family.

you'll find a few of us her on the fourm have been in similar situations and have lost our pets and it's never easy.
I lost a rescue cat last year that i named Silo after my favorite guitar and he was having some breathing problems and i was taking him in to see my wife... she's an RVT (Registered Vet Tech) and works at a pet hospital and i had Silo on my chest inside my hoodie (per the wife's instructions to keep him warm) and i'll never forget Silo looking up at me while i was driving and sighed and then took his last breath...

it will take some time to get over the sting of the loss - but his memories will always be with you.

yes, I too LOVE my animals MORE than words can describe, with my love ever increasing still after they are gone. I understand exactly how you feel.

But "truth" is ever so important: The Lord gives and the Lord takes away - blessed be the name of the Lord.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I recently lost my five year old Labradoodle, Lucy Lu. The loss of a pet can be devastating. I'm feeling a little better, and I hope you will feel better soon.

That's a real shame Devin. My dogs are a huge part of my life too and I totally understand what you mean. Life is precious and sounds like you're loving with all your heart which is the best anyone can do. Hang in there dude. Lean on your dogs for support. They'll get you through :)

Devin,

I feel your pain and it is very hard, my condolences on your lose. I prefer my pets over the majority of humans and losing one for me is difficult.

I just went through this last year at this same time and I still have not been the same but time does heal.

Look at my avatar and that is my baby I lost to quick spreading cancer last spring, she was my world and best freind.

Just hang in and think of all the good memories:)

Devin, sorry to hear about your kitty. Our pets mean the world to my wife and I as well. Always rember that your cats life was saved when you adopted him. You gave him everything, provided him with a loving home and looked after him as if he were your own child... He knew how lucky he was to find you. When I lost my cat 3 years ago the best way I could honor his memory was to adopt another kitty (6 month later - I still wasnt ready). You will always miss him, but that feeling you feel right now is the unfortunate part of living with a pet. Focus on the good times and let it out. Grieve, but don't be afraid to open your home to another animal in need when you are ready.

Wow man, thats so sad. I'm sorry you had to endure that. I cant even imagine that feeling but, at least, you were there with Silo until the very end. I'm sure he knew he was so loved. :)

They've noticed that something is different and can definitely sense that I need comforting and are doing a damn good job. Everyday it gets a little easier. The only thing that gets me now are those last images of him. Every time I reflect on when I found him the wind is knocked right out of me. Having a solid support system has definitely helped me deal with loss so thank you. Thank you to everyone here you're all fantastic individuals!

thanks man. I really needed to hear those words. I struggle with the feeling that I didnt do enough or if I would have done this and this differently that he would still be here. I know its best not to beat yourself up like that but, it just comes natural.
