You could kill two birds with one stone and buy an 08 LE Bongo....

That tingling you feel on the back of your neck is nothing to be worried about. It's the Bongo calling your name.

A Sterling might be for you...only you can answer that question. But if you have a chance to try a Bongo, by all means do so.

If you're into the 2008 LE, then get one. You can always get those other colours later.
(remember, whatever you try, your first will not be your last MM... :D)

It didnt say Piezo but I think a fretless HP would be the way to go but I think I am going to go the Sterling way as the one thing I dont have is a 4 string fretted bass I can take to a gig......I dont have a 5 string fretless right now either but I think a 4 string fretted is probably a better investment at this point.

Coolness. BP did say in another thread that the Sterling HS is one of his "desert island" basses.

Bongo can handle your choice. Picking Sterling over Bongo is not rejection, it is deferral.

Bongo is persistent, but patient. Bongo is confident in its inevitability.

You will become part of the Collective eventually.

Heh Well I have liked the Bongo's I have played but when I played a Dargie Sterling HS it spoke to me, and I didnt really want to hand it back to its owner.

So the final spec I ordered today was
Sterling 4
White with matching headstock Rosewood Tort guard
HSP

Now the wait begins but hey im used to waiting on basses.

There may be a bongo down the road who knows.......I didnt even want to try the Bongo 5 07 LE HSP it looks pretty dang nice but my fretted 5 string needs are well covered.

I don't think you can get HSp on a Sterling... Last time I remembered dual pickup piezos are offered only on Bongos...

Buy the one you want. Do you really want your decision to be influenced by school kids, church goers, rednecks, house husbands, geeks, serving and former members of the military, punk rockers, metal heads, people who used to have afros, Limeys, Norwegians, Volvo drivers, and grumpy old farts with bad fashion sense?

and especially input from Orstralians??

can't wait for Moby to show up!!!

You are correct as it turns out apparantly you know more than certain forum members who work at a certain store where I ordered it through (not naming names PD)
