I have just got home from seeing Deep Purple at the Astoria in London.

I have to say Mr Morse looks as happy as a pig in sh*t. He had a huge grin on his face all night - his playing was sublime. Contact Lost with following solo was an incredibly emotional moment.

For the gearheads - he played a Purple Sunset Y2D hardtail for most of the show, a standard Morse for the solo and a couple of songs (couldnt see if it was no 1 - the Roland cut out was behind his hand and I wasnt close enough) and a Purple Sunset with Floyd for Perfect Strangers. Amps were a big pile of ENGL.

Sterling you really hit paydirt with your first endorsee....

The way he plays perfect strangers is so cool. That's what he is playing on the pic from the front page of his websight. Once you have seen him do this in concert it's unmistakable.

I've seen Perfect Strangers live, but I don't recall the particular movements Morse does. And I haven't seen anything unusual in the DVDs, either... Plus I was 12 at the time, and in the 20th row so I couldn't see much... hahaaa Now I'm really big. like 186 cm :D ..for a 14-year old :D

BTW I guess if his wife got better, that's what the big smile is about :) I hope she got better, BTW :)

Steve Morse was the best concert I have been to. Thanks for NorM and Kbaim for getting me to go. I went with OC and we both were like... ......the whole show.

No, actually they're his backing band :D

I love the solo Don Airey had in Zagreb on 6th December, '03 ... he played the Popeye theme song :D

Who's Steve Morse?
I found this little snippet on the EMBB Music Man artist section:
EBMM's websight (you know the guitars we play) said:
Steve is a six time Grammy nominated guitarist. He is renowned for his diverse playing style that mixes rock, jazz, classical, and country. Morse first achieved acclaim with The Dixie Dregs, who recently finished recording their eighth album. In addition, Steve has six solo albums. He is also a member of Deep Purple.

Morse belongs to Guitar Player magazine's prestigious "Gallery of the Greats" after having been voted "Best Overall Guitarist" for five consecutive years by the magazine's readers.

Check out Steve's web site: www.stevemorse.com
I hope this helped.
Love,
Norm

One question: Does he ever play the good ol' regular Morse now since the Y2D is out? I thought I read somewhere here he did, but I didn't quite get the context :D
