I've done a search, but I'm still a bit confused. Here's the story.
About a month ago I purchased my first Stingray Classic in mint greet from TPB and fell in love. Last week I was perusing my local GC and saw another classic. Tobaccoburst with a flames maple neck and board. I went back last Saturday to buy it. I asked the salesman if they would match the current TPB 10% discount and handed him a printout from their website. He left to confer with his manager. When he came back, he said "we can't match this price. It's not the same bass.". The printout I had given him was the exact same bass, even in color. When I pushed him on the issue, he said. "this bass is a regular classic, ours is a deluxe!". When I asked him what made it deluxe, he responded that it had a flamed neck. I showed him that all of the classics online had either a flamed or Birdseye neck, but he and his manager refused to match it.
Now, here's where it gets a bit silly. After refusing to match the TPB 10% discount, I walked out. I waited by my car for about 30 seconds, went back in and asked THE SAME SALESMAN for a 10% discount. He conferred with his manager, then gave me the discount ........
So, here's the question: is their a deluxe model that has nicer necks or additional options over the standard model?
