Okay... calling on all the Music Man & beyond experts here...

I'm risking a "feeling silly-really out of it-missing the obvious" question here.... but where actually is the "Pearl" in a MM?? ...

Or what qualifies as the Pearl in any EBMM or beyond's guitar's finish ...

What is the actual effect...?? How does one acknowledge it's present or what is one to look for with it?

Also, how is it different from a straight glossy finish..?

I'm not sure if I'm asking this question about the "Pearl" in the right way...

So maybe some of you guys can be so kind to help enlighten this pilgrim on search for the meaning of "Pearl"

Thanks...

Hey, we don't name the colors, we just buy 'em! ;)

Seriously, I believe there's a metallic effect in those finshes that sets them apart from colors without the 'pearl' moniker, but I haven't really looked into that in depth. (Just as mother of pearl has its own metallic effect.. although not the same as the one in these finishes by any means.)

You might also beg a certain user named 'Rush' to revive his online gallery of Petrucci guitars in every imaginable color, and draw your own conclusions. He had a great collection but I think he took it 'offline'.
