My premise: Pick 3 EBMM guitars as your desert island guitars...3 guitars that will cover all your bases now and for the rest of your days. You know the drill. The twist: No Reflex Game Changers allowed. That's cheating! Also, no basses, since this is the guitar section of the forum. Please list your three with your reasoning. This should be fun!

Mine:

***Majesty Artisan Marrone

***Albert Lee MM90 - '14 PDN (auxren flame top), roasted maple neck/fingerboard, white pearloid pickguard & white pup covers

***Luke III HSS - full rosewood neck, Bodhi Blue

I chose these three, of which I own none, because combined they cover all sonic territory that interests me. You've got p90, SC, HB, & piezo pickups. A nice selection of body/neck/fingerboard woods(pretty much all of them).

These three are sort of like the perfect small car collection: a workhorse truck (AL), a sporty family car (LIII), and a Ferrari(Majesty) for good measure

I look forward to everyone's responses!

My JP6 Emerald Green, cause it sounds great and plays fantastic
A JP7 BFR Koa with Flamed Maple Neck, because its beautifyl and i need a 7 String
and either a JP Baritone or a Silhouette Baritone, simply so I can play Panic Attack, blind Faith and These Walls
Can i get a Guitar Tech and Lifetime supply of EB Strings aswell?

I never said it wasn't dumb (though no one ever minds "desert island movies" even though a media player, a display, and electricity are not likely found on a desert island). Just wanted a way to spark a little thought and I'm interested in other opinions.

For those who can't get past the "desert island" aspect: If, for reasons unknown, you had to pick 3 EBMM non-reflex/GC electric guitars to own and play for the rest of your life, what would those three guitars be and why? Your choice of amp, strings, accessories, etc. are a given in this case. It's just the guitars I'm interested in.

C'mon! Use your imagination, people! If you have none... Might I suggest you put the instrument down and back away slowly? ... Or do you feel lucky? Well, do ya?

My 3:
2012 Axis PDN
2012 Silo Special PDN HSS
2014 ASS MM90 PDN

I would need just one - my 25th Anniversary, it's such a great versatile instrument, covers pretty much every sonic possibility and has such a dreamy neck! My L3 HH hardly gets a look in these days.

From a practical point of view for maximal tonality:

A HSS Strat like guitar such as Luke or Silhouette
A Les Paul more heavy sounding one like Morse
A Rock machine + options for bebop guitar, Axis sport or Axis

I'd go with the following

My Mint Green Silo Special
an Armada in Mint Green and White
and a Big AL Bass...

I figure if i get a couple of other lost souls there with me i can get a band going

1st I have to complain: Why no GC Reflex? It's my main axe! Your thread is inferring that it's not a "real" guitar, which it most obviously is.

so I'll be a contrarian and go:
GC Reflex
25th Reflex
Purple Y2D....or my JP6....aarrrggghhh can't decide!!

1996 Gold Axis (#1 since the day I bought it, neck pickup has such a fat super LP like sound to it)
1997 Green Axis Sport (currently #2 and my best sounding EBMM! Just about any tone you would ever need)
2014 white Silhouette Special (Currently #3 and SICK playing guitar and my only single coil guitar)

Personal guitars that didn't make the cut (today)
My Green Axis didn't make the cut only because it's redundant to #1.
My HHAL didn't make the cut because I'm really digging the Axis Sport right now.

ask me tomorrow and my list would prob be different.

I think the OP was trying to imply that the GC is a "cheat" in this scenario because it is endlessly versatile when it comes to pickup combos. Non GC guitars force you to choose what is most important to your playing where a GC can essentially change into whatever you need it to be. For my list, if I didn't bring my Silo Spec and one day I decided I wanted a true single coil sound I'm SOL. With a GC I can program it to a single setting and that defeats the "what if scenario".

Exactamundo! It's most certainly a "real" guitar, and more versatile than any other on the planet.

Though if you are playing a silo, you can quick change the pick guard with other pre populated guards of alternate configs... This would not be cheating!
