Hey everyone,
I have been lurking for a couple of years now and have been a MusicMan owner for about 10 years now. At one point I had (2) of them which were my main and backup axes but for the last couple of years they have gone untouched. In fact I sold my older one a year ago so I am just down to one. It's not that they are bad axes, just I have switched to playing 5 string fretless due to the musical genres (jazz/progressive)I have been listening and playing.
One of the reasons I have held on to my current EB is that I have this notion that it might be collectible someday.
I suppose I should fill in the details......
It is a 2000 model EB MM Stingray with the black "Sparkle" or Metal Flake with a matching headstock. It has the 3 band EQ and flamed maple neck, no rosewood fingerboard. I believe it was part of a limited run that EB had around that time. I bought it new btw.
So I guess my question is, am I holding onto something special here or is this no more unique than a standard EB that can be found in any GC or any other big box store across the Country? I have done numerous internet searches on this particular combination and have come up with zilch as far as value, collectiblility status or desirability. My conclusion so far completely the opposite, nobody likes these things
I do plan on keeping it, as I'm sure it will be of use to me in the future if my tastes change. It is a fantastic tool for the studio and it sounds fantastic through my SWR rig. I have always found EB's to be outstanding quality instruments and I am lucky to be an owner of such a fine example.
Anyways, I would greatly appreciate any feedback. Thank you very much for reading.
