Right now the government looks the other way unless you specifically take the importer to task and then if you are liucky they will get confiscated at the port.

Right now My good friend and competitor Jimmy Daddario is spearheading a anti counterfitting in washington...There were just a huyge contingent of companies in Washington remind our senators and congressmen that conterfitting kills jobs.

Pete about two years ago I was on Ebay night and day looking for a T-Black EVH, anyway I asked my friend Mike that owns the store I hang in if he was looking for anything special I would keep an eye out and he said yea a Frampton LP. A week later I come across one in the price range he was looking in and when I went in the store I pulled it up and said here, he looked about 20 seconds and said its a fake, now I never owned a Gibson in my life and it would of-no it did fool me lol. I saw the guy had close to 400 sales and a perfect rating so I wrote and told him it was a fake and being talked about on the net. He wrote me back and was saying how he got beat but sounded more interested in what forums his guitar was on than getting beat, and said it was such a shame as it looked so good he was going to hang it on his wall. Which told me he was full of s#!t and knew the whole time. Today they do every major company and you really have to be careful and watch who you are dealing with, and the big reason why I do not even look at the bay much at all maybe once a week.

yeah they're "good" copies and you have to be really careful. i'm looking for an ES335 for my collection and i've seen a ton on craigslist and ebay but i cannot buy one knowing there's a good chance it can be a fake...
not only is it killing jobs but it's killing the market all the way around- especially the vintage market. you just don't know what's real and whats fake if you're buying off the bay... i guess i would only buy if they had a return policy and i was able to get it checked out by several sources.
I was actually duped with a smaller purchase but it was a scotty cameron putter (golf) and the seller had it on ebay with a normal price for a used club- $225 and i got it in and sure 'nough it was a fake... ran it through the tests and everyone failed. I called the seller and let him know that it was a fake and i would like my money back... i had the money back within 15 minutes and i shipped the club back. His story was similar to yours and he knew he was beat... so now i'm leary for buying online... or even off of craigslist.

If the Feds made guitars, they would be nailed in no time. But they make money, so best not to mess with that.

It's the same for cigarettes and booze in Canada (which are "controlled" - read taxed to the hilt for profit). You wanna see some wrath? Try selling illegal (duty free) smokes or booze up here. They are not nearly as concerned about policing anything else.

Yup, exactly. Thats all they care about when you come back into Canada on a plane. You fill out a dumb paper and all it asks is how much booze and smokes you bought and how much money you spent abroad. God forbid you cheat them out of a few dollars, idiots. I have an easier time flying into and going through customs in Europe then I do coming back into Canada....well, this time I stayed in Europe for good but thats another story altogether :)

Nexus card, my friend ... makes customs a breeze.

(Not to mention the bridge in Niagra Falls that's Nexus only, I can be across the border in 25 minutes from my parents' place.)

My son works for Congressman Michael Grimm and will be his intern in Washington over the Summer, so I am going to get this in his ear personally. I just do not understand how Paypal which is there biggest allie in money transactions does not see the wrong in all of this. Personally that is who I would go after ,because if they lose Paypal they would be severely crippled!
