I love ol' Raz, too. He is a little high-strung, and he gets upset a little easier than one might expect.

But for the life of me I can't understand why he would be so upset over this. (He posted up a powerpoint-type presentation with conspiratorial theories about 9/11. He didn't create it.. I had seen it on the 'net previously.)

I can certainly understand why EBMM would not want this sort of thing on their forum. It's just not the sort of thing that a company can afford to host.. it could create perception problems for EBMM. (And it is utterly off-topic.)

In fairness to Raz, there is a message area for "Current Events" subtitled "What's happening in the world today?" Maybe that board should be modified a little to dissuade such posts, or eliminated altogether? Who knows...

I imagine he is lurking out there as a 'guest'.

Glenn,
I must have missed it too. Could be another setup like the last time...

No setup.
It was posted in the Current Events Forum.
He was starting showing a website of 9/11 conspiracy theory.
Bovinhost locked the thread, he took offence and started another thread.
The threads are deleted.
The rest is history.
We'll see if he comes back.

I agree, let's stick to guitars and music on this forum. You can find other outlets for politics elsewhere on the web.

Raz if you are lurking come on back. We obviously miss you - you have a whole thread devoted to your whereabouts.

Look, I like Raz, I've met him and he's cool - hell, I even asked him if he'd be interested in joining in with a band we were starting up a while back - but he's off the edge of the map here; posting links to 911 conspiracy theories? and then pouting about them being pulled/censored from a corporately owned guitar website? I guess if you're naive enough for either you're naive enough for the both, but it should be made clear that if Raz does go and stay gone it's absolutely his thing - no one else here deserves any fallout from it... personally, I'm thinking it might be Xmas stress or something got him all uppity, like... ;)

I feel compelled to mention that I'm just 20-something posts from overtaking Raz in total post count.. maybe that will flush him out? :D

I missed the thread that caused such a ruckus...but I will just say that for musicians, political leanings and the events that shape history have always made great songwriting material and are/were often used as rallying points to change policy and vent frustration, etc.

I think it's fair to say that many Americans are at the least taking a greater interest in our place in the world and who that pisses off and maybe why.

I've been a huge fan of THE DAILY SHOW (btw America the Book makes a great gift) and their take on things, and I'm currenty digesting (trying to) Noam chomsky's Hegemony or Survival, America's Quest for Global Dominance.

It ain't easy to run a country let alone the world, and it just seems to me we still haven't found that person (or persons) and never will.

I know this...Raz was this guitar forum's best thread starter imo.

He's missed.

I was just thinking about Raz as well! Thought I'd send him an email this week. I was totally unaware of the controversy- must have missed it. (Glad, I guess.)

It's so natural to want to express your opions on controversial topics. But one always needs to figure out which battles are worth fighting. Plus, this forum is a blast. It's a good place to come to forget about the garbage in the news :p

Come home Raz - we miss ya.

BTW- Keith- Great book! Love the Canadian references courtesy of Samantha Bee.

The thread had come and gone very quickly which is why I'm sure a lot of you missed it.
I was lucky enough to slide in a reply sort of in his defense stating that a lot of us have on some level become friends here and his post was merely wanting to show his pals something that interested him.
But on the other side, I've seen a lot of guitar forums be destroyed because of inappropriate content and lack of control. I do agree that a guitar forum isn't the place. Especially this one.
But I do miss his precense here and hopes that after a break he misses it too.

In the mean time, I must try and catch up to his post count. But get an EBMM before I hit 2000!!!!

Anyone wants to bet on this? ;-)

It's sad that Raz had left.
There's a pretty hostile situation in Axis Tragedy thread.
What's up, people?
I've been around for almost a year now, and I've only seen fights like this when people were pushing other brands of guitars!
Can we all just stop for a second and try to remember where we forgot out tolerance for different opinions? And that we're on corporate website, despite the fact that the moderators don't make us feel it too often? And that this is a guitar forum, and it's not really the place for things like political views and copyright issues?

Let's not ruin this great forum, guys, for our own good.

This same sort of thing happened over at the Line6 site. A few very important posters took offense to having their threads pulled. Line6 had/has the same point as EBMM, and I have to say I agree, this is a music forum owned by a company. If they don't want it posted here it doesn't have to be.

Like SteveB said there are forums for that type of thing. Or if you want to either PM or email a like that to a bunch of members do it that way. But if EBMM or Line6 for that matter doesn't want something posted such is life.

Raz, if you are lurking, I hope you come back. If you decide not to, then such is life, maybe I'll see you around.

+1

This has mostly been a friendly informative forum. I've almost stopped visiting certain forums because of the attitudes. Outside issues are dangerous to friendships and even families - politics, religion, etc. can turn a good conversation into a bloodbath. And we're not going to change anyone's opinions, so it's fruitless.

For those of you hoping Raz might come back - would you if the owner of the company called you a big baby? (I would, but that's a different topic, :D, I tend to enjoy BP's frankness and feistyness - he doesn't have that avatar for nothing!)

I have no idea what happened and it sounds like BP wants it put to rest, whatever it was. I will do my part in complying. I just had no idea what happened and was curious where another forum member was, that's all. Didn't bring it up to ruffle any feathers. Sorry if I did. Talk about walking into the hornet's nest!

He just said he was ACTING like one, there is a difference ;)

PS - I didn't see the thread in question so I can't comment on how Raz or anyone was acting, but I do hope Raz comes back after all this settles down.

I love my ernie ball music man guitars.
Whoops! Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread. Or did I

Back to the thread:

So. What's coming out at NAMM. What am I going to spend my money on this time.
Darn, I did it again.

Back to the thread:
Bree opened my y2d today and was speechless about how pretty it was.
Wait a minute that's not this thread.

Back to the thread:
Keith got me the coolest watch for Christmas and I can't tell you how much I wanted it and love it today.
Thank You Keith!!!!!
No that's not it.

Back to the thread:
So I found out what the 20th anniv silo is all about. Not exactly what I would do but then again to do exactly what I want I would have to open my own guitar company. It's what I want, I just don't know it.
Crud! I can't seem to get the hang of this getting back on track.

Back to the thread:
Every one of my EBMM's were custom built for me! That's it.
no guess not.

Back to the thread:
Steve Morse is my hero and the sole reason I started playing EBMM. Then I realized what fantastic guitars they are and I couldn't imagine playing any thing else. Before I got my first guitar I really wanted a Steve Morse Model. Now that the y2ds are here I am thinking that this will be my dream work horse guitar. I can't wait to show it off.
Why can't I stick to the topic?

Back to the thread:
Q. Do You know how many EBMM guitar players with A.D.D. it takes to change a light bulb?
A. I don't know because playing a musical instrument is the cure for A.D.D. When I play guitar, I'm not mad at you. But you can go to hell as far as I care because I am doing something that brings and restores peace to my life. Thank You Ernie Ball for giving me the tool to let me make my life peaceful.
