I started to adjust the truss rod last night, because I had some buzzing on the lower frets. Not too much, but I wanted it better. So this is the point where I finally decided I needed to do a set up at this point. It is pointless to leave it off. I have read enough about what to do and what not to do, so I went for it. I wanted to lower the action as well. HOWEVER, the set-up I did, was on a **anez
guitar. It does have a floating tremolo, so it was much tougher to deal with this mofo. I will be doing my own set up on a MM HOPEFULLY soon. I've been waiting for about 2.5 months now. If any of you guys at EB read this, can you let me know what is the sending status of a Vintage Sunburst Silhouette, matching headstock, rosewood board, blk perloid pg (to Rudy's Music in NYC)? Well anyway, like I was saying, I managed to do pretty good. After all I did NOT break the bastard. It is tough however to get a lower action than 2mm at 12th fret because it is a neck-through. But I definatly did manage to lower it for more comfort, and eliminate serious buzzing, and also managed to level out the tremolo to a good position. This took me about 3 hours or so straight. I will have to let it sit overnight and let the wood do what it needs to do. I will check it out tomorrow when I get back from work and do some more tweeking if I have to. Well, this was my first set up that I really enjoyed. And I cant wait to do one on the Silo (Since I HAVE to put 10's on it). I do have a little buzzing on d and g strings on 12th and 13th frets, so I have to see the up date on that tomorrow. It's actually thanks to you awesome guys here at the forum, that made me be brave and take on a set-up, especially a floating tremolo. But to make you guys happy, the **anez does have the older Petrucci pups, so it sounds pretty amazing. But still, the SILO I can not wait for any longer, I am dying here guys. Peace
