I didn't get any :( but I casually said to my wife that I needed one more guitar to complete my collection - a BFR AL - and she didn't bat an eyelid!! Either she had too much wine or she doesn't mind!! - I'll casually drop the hint again over the next couple of days.

So instead of more Balls, I had :-
3 x Allen Hinds DVD Guitar tutorials
1 DVD on sweep picking - my new years resolution is to practice this new technique( to me!)
1 Hotlicks DVD on Steve Vai techniques ( I don't want to become a Steve Vai imitator but he has some great blues licks in his playing!!)
a DVD recorder with a VHS player and hard drive (will play DivX too!) so I can put a lot of old Music progs I have on tape, onto DVD
A "that top sucks" BFR T shirt from #1 son.
Eric Clapton autobiog
Jools Holland auto Biog
and a book on Rockfield studios - just down the road from me where the likes of Sabbath, Plant, Judas Priest, Budgie, Motorhead and a lot more !! - recorded.

What did Santa bring you ?

PS
I think Robelinda2 had the best pressie :)

No Balls for me. My wife is of the "One-guitar-is-enough-isn't-it" type. (Why couldn't have a "One-purse-is-enough"-type)

Does buying one myself count (Got a green (i think) sparkle Sile Spec on the way).

Got a Bee-Gees DVD (One night only)........don't even comment on that
some socks
alarm clock
Some books.

I got the BB Preamp that I was lusting for, a Pedaltrain Pro-SC pedal board, a box of hybrid slinky 9's, a G7th Capo for my 12 string, Slash's autobiography and Spock's Beard's "Snow".

She also went to order a couple of tutorial DVD's from the Lick Library but got confused at their website trying to order them so she gave up and is having me order them for her now.

And last but not least she went searching the forum by jumping on my computer after I walked away one day. She was looking for information about ordering some more of the personalized picks that were made up for some of us at the Desert Bash and ended up seeing in my signature that I have 2 more guitars on order that I had forgotten to mention were on the way... Oooooooops ;)

It's all good though, I told her remember those diamond earrings I brought back from the Desert Bash for you??? Alright so maybe they were a guilt present...

Anyhow a nice Christmas was had by all.

Nice one Fred - I'm lusting after one of those BB pedals - I'm just waiting for the BB plus to hit the streets.

The sweep picking and Steve Vai DVD's I got were Licklibrary.- as was a Stereophonics DVD my son had.

Any problems lon the licklibrary DVD's let me know - I could get them over here and mail them to ya. - I guess that they would have a US distribution franchise though?

Nice one on the 20th White strat - have we seen pics of it yet?

I got my Dargie in June....which was considered an early Christmas present. (no more Balls this year) :(

I did get a 42" plasma though...so I can't complain. For me..it was more about giving to my daughter.

Spud!!!!!!

Along with sweep picking try some Morse alternate picking.
I think
Alternate makes sweep look ... well ...

Everything you play becomes easier with alternate picking

It incorporates a little technique I like to call
The Right Way.

I got the Guitar Player 40th anniversary book (giant guitar pick on the cover).

And a pretty damn cool phone call from a member of this forum.

I also gave some EB personalized guitar picks to my lady's 11 year old son with his name on them. He took up guitar a few months ago.

Hmmm, well, none of my presents are here yet, but I did pick up for myself this year a whole ^#$@load of gear! Mesa Boogie DRR, JP7, G-B 2x12, EBVP Jr., Boss DD-20... Yeah, hehe, good yearly haul, I think!

Stuff that actually count as presents that I have yet to receive:
Lifting Shadows DT book set (Ordered on August 8th, still waiting for it!)
Pain of Salvation - Remedy Lane, Perfect Element Pt.1, 12:5
Porcupine Tree - Deadwing and In Absentia (CD and DVD-A for each)
Systematic Chaos Tab Book
Kill Bill Vol.2 (I've had the first one forever and decided to just buy the other half)
Dream Theater - When Dream & Day Unite (lolDominicilol)

Stuff that I do have right now? Two boxes of Oreos :D

Rob
I love Allen Hinds style of playing he is so fluent and has a real nice touch - I discovered him by watching his demo of the Xotic pedals.

I haven't watched them all yet but I'll do a report in the "General Discussion" section of the forum in the future.

I thought £50 was reasonable for 3 dvd's when you consider that you pay £20 + for a licklibrary DVD (don't get me wrong Licklibrary stuff is great!!). I get frustrated when they start talking theory - I just wanna hear and see what he's playing and get stuck into it. - but that's just me. When I started guitar many many years ago I played trombone by reading the dots, but I didn't want to waste time learning theory for the guitar - I haven't changed much!!

NorM - I have the Steve Morse Power Lines DVD and I'll have to check that out to see if there's alt picking on there.

I didn't get anything that could compare with Rob's! Wow. But, seeing my three girls truly appreciative and thankful for what they received was a pretty good gift in itself.

The wife and girls bought me a new guitar stand specifically for my BFR. They nicknamed the guitar "Ruby" (for obvious reasons) soon after I got it in November. So they had the new guitar stand engraved with "for Ruby". Very cute!

I also scored another stand to hold five guitars (for my non-Ball guitars...at least until I collect a few more Balls), but apart from that, nothing else was music related (chocolate, novels, DVDs...no complaints here).

You're not alone there, Spud!!!! :D Must get some of those DVDs myself.

Well I can not count my new BFR`s as presents they just replaced what I already had, but since my wife and I do not celebrate our gift giving until this week end we will see;), which means no new Balls but a couple of cool things coming:)
