During "all well that ends well" tour, saw him play with a guitar I remember as a Rad Red with EMG pick up on bridge and passive pick up on neck, but it might have been just a dream :) (didn't take a photo of that one, damn it!)

If you are referring to his Radiance Red and Black Sparkle Lukes, that would be a negative. They both have sustainers installed in them, and thus the neck pickup had to be replaced with a sustainer pickup...

no, im wondering about the luke III

Implied in another thread by Big Poppa himself.. "who said active pickups? Who said passive guitar?"

-dc

Okay, for me that sounds like maybe a setup similar to the Silo Special, passive PU with active electronics to supress noise.

Many years ago, I had PUs installed in a custom Strat type that were called Reflex Reds (the Reflex is an unwanted coincidence, the company ceased to exist). Not much was known about the technology they applied, but they insisted their sets were passive PU with active electronics. Those were wonderful sounding PU with a lot of warmth, which was then unsual for me to hear with active systems. Maybe the concept has re-emerged somewhere...

Hmmm reverse headstock, is that something new for this 2011, because I saw it on the new Joe Bonamassa Steve Morse model?! But still looks pretty awesome! :D

Well i would like to see some Luke models with other Pickup combinations and with more stocked passive pickups. It would be great if there were like HSH or just 3 SSS. Just an oppinion!
