Did the Bongo always have a 1.625" nut?

Could have sworn that they had a 1.5" width at the nut. So they have the size of the Stingray 4's and a modern P-Bass instead of the eligant 1.5" that the Sterlings and J-Bass have. When I test them out, I always thought it felt a little weird...my mind was going "this is suppose to be a J-Bass size" but of course my hands weren't feeling that.

I have older Bongos and new Bongos and they seem exactly the same to me.

Nothing has changed as far as I know.

Actually, I find the Bongo neck to be in between the Sterling and Stingray. It's a happy medium.
