Hey Guys,

I bought a EBMM JP6(stealth black) with Piezo about 5 months ago(used) excellent condition. I sent it into Obispo Ca, to replace a few saddles in the piezo bridge. And asked them to do a full setup. I'm 1,500 into the guitar at this point.

I am not clicking with the neck on the JP6. The bending is uncomfortable for me on this neck. I thought about taking it to another Luthier and sit in on the setup. But at this point I'm just thinking different options. I have the guitar listed on Craigslist in Portland, Oregon for $1,400 or trade. Serial # G555**

I have a guy that is wanting to trade a 2002 Silhouette. Is the Silhouette neck much different? I know there are more tone options. I have longer fingers and prefer a larger fatter neck.

He also has a PRS Custom 22 with the 3 SoapBar p90's(2001) been gigged quite a bit though. I don't like the look of 3 humbucker(SoapBar) sized p90's in this guitar though.

The EBMM JP6 is still selling for $2,250 on Musicians Friend. It's not a cheap guitar as you all know. And I don't want to trade into something older unless I absolutely fall in love with what I'm trading for.

What do you guys think? Here is a picture of the Silhouette and PRS:

The Silo-Neck is Big and Thick.. I sold mine...

Exactly what I like in a guitar neck. My most comfortable guitar to play is my new Gibson Studio, its got a abnormally large baseball bat neck. ;)

My shredder guitar: ESP E-II FRX even has a fat style neck. Its fast, seems double the JP6 neck in Girth. I think the JP6 neck is nice for smaller hands, or shorter fingers. I have really long fingers and its giving me problems.

What do you think about Value on the Silhouette?

Emailed Description:

2002 Custom ordered Ernie ball music man silhouette, this has a rare 24 fret fretboard they come standard with 22 frets, locking tuners, one piece maple neck/fretboard, tremolo, a custom green flake finish, I also installed a tuner on the volume knob it's a push pull knob that when you pull up lets you tune the guitar on the spot, and hard case as well, also graphtec saddles, original included as well.

I sold my 2005 Purple Silhouette for $1400... I'd offer him $1200.00 as long as the Neck is Straight... Also the guitar doesn't have the Piezo like the JP6...

Thank you!!!

What would you value my 2013 JP6 stealth black(matte black) w/piezo. Excellent condition. Serial number # G5554*? As far as a trading proposition? I believe mine has more value. What did the silhouette sell for. He said something about having his made with 24 frets (custom job) vs the 22 norm.

22 Frets- silhouette special
24 Frets- standard silhouette

Both are standard models that are equally available.

A new silhouette will run you $1600-1800 where a new JP6 is around $2300. He would need to add some cash if it were my deal.

That looks like a standard "silhouette" with a color that has been discontinued a bunch of years ago... nothing custom other than the dude likely had to order the guitar when he bought it originally. The "Silhouette Special" comes with a 22 fret neck, and the Silhouette with 24 frets. Check out the Musicman site for info and differences on both guitars.

I'm no expert on used pricing, but I'd say your JP stealth is definitely worth more.. "Silos", and "Silo specials" seem to go pretty cheap used from what I've seen. Also, as mentioned, the Silo necks are thicker than the JP, but I wouldn't consider them "Big and thick". I believe the Morse Dark Lord has the thickest musician neck.

Not sure on the Value of the JP6 but $1700.00 sounds good... As far as the Silhouette, not sure about that custom order business like people have said "The "Silhouette Special" comes with a 22 fret neck, and the Silhouette with 24 frets.".. look here Guitars

And his is a 2002 Silhouette(his words, like new condition). Mine is a 2013(excellent condition). I don't like the color of his, or the look of the pups either. Without even playing it, I think I'm gonna pass. Mostly because in our email exchanges he isn't considering cash. I would want at least 400 cash. I would end up spending 300 on the loaded pick gaurd, just to make is something I would like. https://reverb.com/item/941431-seymo...rx5xoCtIPw_wcB

Thanks for the help. I might just have to get used to my JP6. I love everything about the guitar, except the bending on it. Could very well be the strings they set it up with. The standard 10 EBs that most of these come with. I primarily play 10's NYXL Daddario's. And 11's. The strings are slinky, and slip easily with 1.5 to 2 step bends. Something I don't like. I'm gonna order new strings today and see if that helps. Amazon Prime. LOL

... just to add a comment, the Morse Dark Lord neck was based on a Gibson neck. Use Search to find some info on them. The Silo neck will definitely be closer than the JP, but it still may feel small compared to your Gibson. I wouldn't trade the guitar unless you can sit and play the Silo a bit to decide.. Good luck and hopefully you find something that works out.

Or consider an Axis, Axis Super Sport or HHAL... All are great choices and have nice size necks.

True, but neither the Silo, Silo Special, Axis, Axis SuperSport nor the ALs have what anyone outside of those of us used to EBMMs would consider a "big neck". Sure, they are the largest bolt-on EBMM necks, but they top out at what other makers would call a "medium" or even a "medium-small" neck. Over the years I've had 3 Silo Specials, 3 ALs, an Axis SuperSport (and had a USA SUB for a while as well) and while they are decent sized in terms of depth, they aren't comparable to one of the larger Gibson necks (for example).
