In the past I have had the Steve Morse std model. I miss and I will get another one, but I am curious to those have both models how would comparing he two models against each other? I do not use a floyd rose and prefer a fixed bridge.

Thanks

Well you have a maple top on the Y2D, missing the single coil closer towards the neck and a 5 way switch opposed to 3 switches on the standard. I absolutely love my Y2D. But the standard is awesome as well of course!

Hmmm....I guess I should have rephrased my question..lol. Tonal wise and diversity there of. I know when I had my Steve Morse guitar the diversity was great. With the Y2D I am not sure how diverse it is with the tones.

i get all the tones i need from my Y2Ds and i prefer it over the regular morse, because the maple top adds more top-end and bite to the overall sound.
it´s totally a rocker! fat rhythm crunch from the bridge PU, clean down in the SC+HB combination or only a SC sound, the great HB+HB combi for faster solos or nice clean licks and the neck HB for those singing lead-lines.

Hahaha, yea I should of thought about the tone aspect of course as well. As the above guys said, the Y2D is still incredibly versatile and gives you a bit more of that top end crunch as Joe Web mentioned. You cant really go wrong with either one at all...you will not be disappointed.

Thanks...I guess I will see if there is a Y2D I can try out. I am really missing my standard and am actually willing to sell another guitar to get one.

I like a tone from big and fat, think jazz tone, to a tele thin...not a strat thin but tele if that makes sense. Can the Y2D do these?

since the introduction of the Y2D the neck profile is a little bit thinner on both models (standard & Y2D). If you had a pre 2006 Standard Morse you had the "old" neck profile.

Both are fantastic and can really do just about any tone you desire. The standard has a few more pickup options, but the Y2D has plenty. The Y2D's top does add a bit of brightness and a little more bite to the tone. I have a standard that I prefer to the Y2D I had but mine is a rosewood neck BFR and therefore not really a standard. Normal standard vs. Y2D I would go Y2D.

Thanks guys...I have to either trade out my current guitar or sell this one. Yes it is well worth an even trade. I am keeping my eyes open. I just had to pay for my daughters and sons tuition so funds are a bit tight right now.
