Ok the skinny...I am stuck in a rut for a few years to the point to wear I almost hardly play anymore. I need some inspiration that I think only a new axe can bring. I have been looking to trade my current signature guitar for a Steve Morse. I have had one in the past and sold it when I tried out the synth thing...what an idiot am I! I am widening my search a bit. So...

I like a good fat tone. I play mostly on the neck pickup or neck middle pickup. I have read where the Axis super sport can split coils. Can anyone clue me in on the tone of these pickups? Or any other MM guitars...

The style of music I play is blue, classic rock, and some jazzy things...

Thanks

New axe certainly gets you to play as it is exactly that - new. What you need to do is find something to play that keeps you going back. Find a band or a jam buddy. That keeps you playing and going back. New guitars are always cool. One month later - is it still? Or is it a piece of furniture. The Morse is a great axe and will certainly be a great guitar to have. You just have to stay motivated to play. That is the key.

Koogie I can't agree with you more. I have not played live in about 15 yrs. My job hrs are very unpredictable and put on that a daughter who play A select softball and four sports in school...argh. Now if you can come up with an idea on how I can train people to have their heart attacks between 7-7....that would help me out ALOT!! Lol I am to playing for fun now. At some point I would like to learn some different styles of music such as swing, aka Brian Sitzer, progressive style of rock, and theory as i am self taught and just smile...

If you like neck and neck/middle tones, you might want to also consider a Reflex.

Or a Game Changer Reflex ... the tonal possibilities on that one will keep you inspired for a long, long time!

Best wishes finding your axe and motivation and carving out some quality time for playing.

Kev - you certainly have a full plate! My post was based on the info given at first. My only suggestion with your schedule would be to find an instructor (who is schooled in theory, reading, etc) and get some lessons in. It gives you ideas and things to work on that will make you pick up the guitar. That is what I do when I get in a "rut". I have a great instructor I go to when needed.

Also, hit the tab sites for some tunes to work on.

Try to enjoy the time you have to play. Have an inspiring tone. Sometimes its not always how long you play play..
