Hi all,

I'd like to pick someone's brain who has tried different potentiometer values on their Silo Specials. More importantly if you have used the stock pickups.

I'm warming up to my stock DiMarzio's and just want a more grittier tone with the 2nd guitar without having to spend money on a new bridge pickup (though an Area T 615 is not out of the realm of possibility).

Thanks. If there is a thread dedicated this topic already, please let me know.

Much appreciated ozzy,

I wasn't set on 500k, but that seemed to be the most likely value to introduce. I saw a thread from Dr.Kev where he rewired his HSS to have the full humbucker instead of coil splitting it for bridge + middle and bridge + neck selections. That might be something to look at for a slightly fuller tone.

These stock p'ups quack wonderfully on clean and can get satisfying p90 tones with some tweaking (at least to my ears). Just looking for alternatives to swapping out a pickup. Still, a Tele bridge with the stock single coils would be an acceptable deviation.

I wasn't satisfied with the stock pups in my silo special, so I replaced neck & bridge. I've come to find that I'm a total Axis guy. Beej & Dr. Kev are both technical geniuses when it comes to silo rewiring. Go with whatever advice they give you. Good luck.
