Try a TC G-major in the FX-loop. Great sounds at a reasonable price plus it has two built in relay switches. So you can switch your FX and your amp as well by use of a simple foot controller even if your amp is not midi capable.
Very simple and the end of the stomp-box-dancing-terror! ;)

tempting! I wish it wasn't a rack unit but i've seen people just put them in a little 3 space rack or just on top of their amps. A friend might be selling his g major and midi controller though. I emailed him and asked him how much he'd want if he sells it...

My latest English professor actually uses a TC Electronics G-Major and insists that he requires no additional stomp boxes.

I'm a stomp box kinda guy, I just can't seem to get over my TS9.

One thing I dont think anyone has mentioned (appologies if I missed it).

If you have your amp set clean then there is not much advantage in having teh delay in the loop rather than before the pre. i.e. if you get your crunch from the OD pedal rather than amp then as long as the delay is after the OD pedel you'll be ok. If your amp is cooking though you should be n the loop. (accepting that after the Poweramp is probably even better but 99% of people just aint going to do that)

I'm partial to my Keeley SD-1 (and wah) so i know what you mean! i'm still trying to decide if selling most of my pedals is the right thing to do! I'll have to wait until I get back from my honeymoon June 1st to be able to put some good thought into it though...

In The Loop

Unless you are going for a heavily mixed in delay(50% or more), you will only drive yourself crazy trying to put delay in front of your amp using the amp's gain for crunch because the natural compression of the preamp on even slightly gained tones will raise the volume of the feedback(repeats) to about the same level as your undelayed signal, and there will be no trailing off of the delays. they will repeat at full volume. that might be ok for some kind of slapback effect, but anything else will suck. Resign yourself to using a loop, pain in the butt as it is, and your delay wont sound like crap. Also, get a decent delay, like a TC Nova Delay rather that a boss hiss maker.
