Yeah, I hear you. I've actually got the PodXT (bean) with the "shortboard", and it has the round metal footswitches that you're talking about. It's pretty durable and I don't have any problems with the spacing. But with the PodXT Live pedalboard thing, who knows?

Raz- are you talking about the bean shaped thing? That's what I've got. I don't use it with a stand, I just place it on a table, cabinet, wherever I happen to be. With the shortboard, all of the controls (including the tuner) are accessible from the board so you don't need access to the bean to change programs, effects, etc. But it also comes in a rack-mount flavour as well if you like to rack your gear.

OK so I could get that Bean thingy, and then do I need a footswitch ASAP, or could I save up and get it later, cause there is one on EBAy for a really good price...

Make sure the Bean is the XT and not the Pod 2.0. You can grab the controller later. It's a great tool to have (Bean that is) and it's very expandable.

Alot. The XT has downloadable firmware and purchaseable software upgrades. The 2.0 is based on a chip setup that you can't reflash. Plus the XT is the newer one and it sounds way better IMHO. More effects, more models, more control.

Ok I just want to make sure that I'm not going to be fooled once I purchase it, so when I get this thing home, I can plug my guitar in, plug this into my amp and play...would I play thru the clean channel? I don't mean to sound ignorant, but it has alot of features I am not currently prepared to use, however it doesn't mean I won't...but I do want to play straight up thru my Marshall, trying the various tones and effects...so no sweat right?

Well I just wanted to thank eveyone for being so helpful...I realize that the POD XT has huge potential, but I've decided on the Behringer V-Amp 2.0 instead.

The reasons are simple. For one I can get it for less than half the price of the XT. Also I would have to wait for over 2 months for the XT and right now my tone sucks and I need inspiration to play, or I don't play at all...so I'm heading down tonight to buy it. I've listened to the samples (click the link then click Virtual Gear on the right) and I am happy, in fact I am really excited...I think for what I do and how I play this little unit is more than enough...sure I could go out and purchase racks and amps and guitars till I'm blue in the face, but I have a family and responsibilities...besides lets say I get it and I run through all the tones and require more, then I'll always know which unit to trade up towards...thanks guys!
Maybe I'll post some samples...
