I ordered an Axis SS PDN HH Hardtail through Pete D. like 6 months ago...........it is finally ready to ship to me, but I really am debating on whether I should try to see if:

1. Someone else is interested
2. Pete will let someone else buy it by paying off the balance (with that person paying me the 300 deposit back first)
3. Or just avoid all the hassle of payment, shipping, listing on Ebay, selling/shipping, and hope the buyer on the other end is not a crook and just forfeit my $300 deposit, or see if I can work something else out with Pete.

I could pay for it and have it shipped to me......it would probably have to go to Ebay soon after, and selling something like this to a buyer, all I need is for someone to claim that the neck was cracked when they received it or something,.........a 1,700 dollar guitar is not something I really want to sell on Evil-Bay, and there are a LOT of EBMMs on Ebay right now.

I hated my Silo Special when I first got it, but with a pup swap and titanium saddles, I really love the blues and rock I can cover, AND the forearm contour - big time. I should have ordered a Silo Special PDN, but who knew. 6 months is a long time sometimes..............

Sounds to me like you just lost a $300 deposit.

Yeah, possibly. Sucks a little, but I've lost way more in the past if it has to be that way. Honestly, I've got the military discount as well that I could probably hook somebody up with........all total with shipping for the PDN Axis was only $1,765.......

I changed the pickups...........stock pups were pretty lifeless IMHO,......got an Area 58 in the neck and a DP212 EJ in the bridge,..........sounds fantastic.......actually left the middle pup stock...........3 (middle) and 4 (almost bridge) positions are a little Tele-like, almost like a cocked wah, but they work for some cool sounds, and I don't particulary use them much anyway. I'm sure the PDN Axis SS will look and sound awesome, but no Axis SS or Axis for that matter can get that true strat/Hendrix/SRV/Mayer/Mike McCready/Lincoln Brewster tone...........it's pretty much the sound I have been chasing for years, I was just trying to chase it with the wrong guitars.

Don't get me wrong, I will still play my Axis SS on occasion, it is a great rock monster, but it just doesn't scratch the same itch.

If you hated the Silo Special before, why on earth would you think you can get along with one now? Whatever about risking your current deposit, what's wrong with the PDN Axis that you'd go back to a guitar that you hated?

Why not take delivery of the Axis? I'm amazed that a PDN is that cheap to begin with. The pickup switching options on the ASS can't be dupilcated on a Silo Spec (I have an ASS and my Sub 1 with silo spec pickups/silent circuit)

My honest opinion here is to wait and play the PDN ASS.

It's mahog body and maple cap. You have no idea how it sounds. Basswood to mahog couldnt be more of a jump.

The PDN should keep its value in time, since its a Limited Edition guitar...

You can get Silho Specials (amazing guitars, BTW) anytime, anywhere...and here in the board many knucks are selling them at very reasonable prices!

Alright, I am going to pay the balance and get it shipped to me. Honestly, I don't make my money playing guitar, and will never be a pro, so who knows, in 6 months from now, I may love my Axis SS's more than the Silo..........I am sure it will be a beautiful guitar.

I can't believe you never even considered me....MMhhhh?

I thought you said that you were getting one? You never seemed to fail in that mission so I assumed that you had one on the way... Kevin aborted his search and came up with more excuses that he couldn't buy it than his wife could come up with. Enough time has passed that this looked like a great opportunity. :p

Rufedges, it's hard to imagine that you won't be ecstatic with the PDN. They really really are special. I usually treat my guitars like my kids and don't pick favorites but my PDN Axis is clearly sitting in the coveted Number One spot. As impressed as I already am with EBMM, I think they took it to a whole new level. Jmho.

No, I am sure the AL has some great tone, and in reality that is all that should matter, but you either love the way the AL looks or you hate it, and I am in the latter category...........it is a unique guitar, It's just not for me.

Maybe you'll keep the PDN Axis, sell the other one and buy an SSS AL instead? :)

Looking forward to your NGD post!
