EB super locks - will the guitar fit in the case with them installed ?

I already bought those, hope soon my friend from US will bring them to me :)
but I saw that many players including JP, Gilbert etc prefer clip locks, and I leke them too.
you can remove the strap and the guitar will be safe in the case with EB strap locks.

that is not ok, maybe I will try EB locks.

only 2 problems :
1. I read here on the forum that the screws are longer that ones in the guitar, and you have to drill - I am not comfortable with that
2. my friend from US bought a pair of black ones for me instead of nickel - haha - and my JP is olive gold so black locks will not be very cool, since the trem and other stuff is not black :p

I got a couple of Dimarzio clip locks, but i dont use em on my balls....I'm too worried of damaging the paint job.
So i use standard EB straps....they do the job

I don't care what case it is, they will rub.

Well, I usually fold the bottom piece over the finish and fold it back again, such that only the nylon part of the strap is touching the finish, and the plastic bit in resting on the nylon. For the horn, i just push it inward. Doesnt scratch/scrape the finish as far as I know.

Disclamer: This technique was tested on my strat which has a similar body shape as a JP6 and it should work on a JP6 which is smaller in size. I've haven't gotten Dimarzio cliploks on my JP6 as my local store has run out of stock for the black ones. Cheers!

I'm not saying don't buy them, I like the concept. But trust me when you're packing up after a gig at 1:30 in the morning and you forget to fold one piece here and the other piece there then it is a gamble.

i leave mine on all the time (three years at least) and havent had issues. i just use those little finger sweatband things basketball players used to wear a couple years ago to pull over the plastic clip. problem solved

Going on 3 years with DiMarzio cliplock on my Mystic Dream. No damage to guitar and 100% secure. I like the cotton straplocks because the ends that attach to the strap button location are nicer and the cotton does not slip like the nylon does. It grabs your shirt a bit and keeps the guitar in place.

my complaint is when packing your guitar in its case the cliplock rubs against the body

+1..I was going to get these but this is what deterred me, and the fact that they are always on the guitar...get Schallers..the best IMO...better than Dunlops.

this solution looks nice and easy.
my only Q is how safe is that plastic from the lock, I mean can we trust it to be a safe one enough ?:D

As long as you aint doing guitar swings and other wild guitar stunts, it will hold pretty well(as it did for my Les Paul at that time). I changed to cliploks just for convience sake with the added security as a bonus. :D

wrap a layer of electrical tape around the clip-locks to prevent scratches, thats how i used to do it on my other guitars

It's probably better to use Gaffer Tape. The electrical tape will ooze adhesive if it gets too hot, then you'll have a mess on your strap and/or guitar.

I swear I've never had an issue with the clips scratching my guitars. Especially on my EBMM guitars. I'd figure after a year of playing my BFR JP7 almost daily there would be some issue, but there's not.

I'm sort of surprised to hear of anyone with issues using a cliplock on an EBMM with the poly finish.

For what it's worth, I installed a cotton cliplock to my JP7 a month or two ago.

The strap screws that were in the guitar were significantly longer than what came with the cliplocks. I didn't have to even think about drilling.

Just got my first JP6 today and I installed the cliplock in about 2 minutes. As JP7Nomad above said, the screws that were in the guitar were significantly longer than what came with the cliplocks.

My only issue right now is that the strap is quite long. I did set it up to the shortest possible way. It will try it out that way for a couple of days but I'm really thinking contacting Dimarzio to see if they could ship a shorter one.

I contacted Dimarzio this morning and this is the reply I got from them:

"If you wish to send us your tried-on-but-not-really-used-much ClipLock strap, we can shorten it for you at no charge."

But they won't send me a shorter one for trade.

Yep. Scratched my Ibanez RG750 neck by this same mistake long time ago so I got worried about the Dimarzios. They are nice but not fun if the neck has scratches.

hmmm, strange, with the new guitar I will receive 2 dimarzio cliplocks :))
I'll see if they damage the guitar or not, but I'm thinking that in the music man form fit case the only part damaged can be the guitar body and for that I'm thinking about wrapping a thin piece of cloth around the cliplock before puting it in the case :)
anyone tried that? seems the easy way to go
