Like many (perhaps all) of you, I'm always on the lookout for another Stingray that needs a good home. Also very interested in discontinued or limited run finishes.
Is there any information regarding approximately how many of what color was applied to say a SR?
I find it hard to make a fair offer if the rarity is unkown.
Have seen more than a few listed on CL that were either mis-informed sellers or out and out liars and that is based on the my limited knowledge of the topic; have got to think that there is plenty of mis-information on the topic in general.

Any guidance or information would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry if I missed a post on this but couldn't find any info; TIA.

That's proprietary and generally we don't find out how many of a particular model were made in a given color, BUT of course you can always run it up the flagpole here and our collective wisdom can probably figure out whether a finish is relatively rare.

Fair enough; I have exchanged emails with a guy who has a 2000, transparent purple, maple neck, 2-band EQ bass for sale; rare?

Am disappointed that basic information regarding model availability is considered proprietary though; seem like it it is sound business to educate owners / buyers; what good can become of secrecy?

A 2 band trans purple SR4 is rare. I only remember seeing only one other for sale years ago. I would imagine more than two made, but available units now floating around? Seen a lot of 5'vers though.

But I have never heard of any manufacturer outright advertising production numbers. Just the very are occasion where a builder might say they only have enough unobtanium wood or paint for x-number of special units.

I understand your desire to know more about basses you might be buying, but EBMM isn't a huge company. I'd personally rather have everyone at the factory working on building and researching new instruments than trying to accurately catalog exactly how many of what color have been built.

Trans-purple is rare but not a LE per say, just a discontinued color.... If I'm not mistaken.

Still a very cool find, especially in a 2-band.

There was a thread discussing LEs but no production numbers.

I happen to own one of those rare trans purple two bands. Here is a crappy pic, but it is all I have right now.
