Do Bongo people play their other basses anymore?

A few days back, BP himself mentioned that they're working on Six new bass(I believe) models. Yes, after the Bongo, you can imagine we're all hot and bothered just thinking about what they'll show us next.

On the note of the Bongo-Dominance. My ol' Bonger basically did All of my recording, let's face it, even if you never want to take it out in public(which I happily did, I loved the reactions) you'd Have to put it to good use in the studio, because it just made everythign else obsolete. I also played some nice little jazz coffee shops with it to great affect. Though, I admit I made myself mix the SUB into the mix(along with the others) just because. If I have 'em, I should use them.

While playing my Bongo, sometimes I look at my Roscoe, resting in its guitar stand, and vaguely remember what it sounds like.

Hey Freddy G

Roscoes are pretty nice playing/sounding instruments. What is it about your Bongo that beats out the Roscoe?

Don't get me wrong, the Roscoe has that smooth "modern" sound that comes with spending way too much for a bass. I won't be selling it anytime soon. I would describe the Bongo as having a blend of that modern sound with the classic tone that I like so much from a Fender Jazz Bass. The 4-band eq on the Bongo is just amazing for a bass in any price range. And I have finally decided that I prefer a 5-string to a 4-string. Thanks for asking.

Just have to mention that you hijackers really did a number on me. I have a gig with this woman ( www.michenscene.com ) who has been putting some heavy pressure on me to learn the DB (I have one in my house that I can't play for a thousand good reasons) - and I mentioned this thing to her. She loved the idea, and if I get the hang of this or any kind of EUB there's a good chance, but no guarantee, that she'll take me around the world with her on tour - or at least to The Netherlands. I'd do it in a heartbeat if I didn't read so many mixed reviews on the Pace - most people seem to think it's a piece of doody. If either of you guys wants to email me any additional thoughts feel free. I don't feel quite right discussing this here. My main concern is - can you get it to sound anything like a DB, with putting better, thicker strings on it??? My email is [email protected] .

Hey Joe, (I've always wanted to say that.) I can't speak for Jack or Todd, but I haven't ever played an URB or a "real" EUB so I don't really have a feel for what they sound like as a player. They are right that the Dean comes with crappy strings, but I haven't changed mine out yet. IMO, I think it gets a pretty good EUB sound and I'm sure that would even be improved by putting better strings on it. It really does have a nice mwah. Sorry I can't be of more help. Maybe Jack or Todd can shed some more light on it.
