You know that should actually be Alnico. We switched in March of 2008.

I have an SR5 with ceramic and a new one with Alnico. They are different colors but otherwise the same bass. The ceramic equipped one is more aggressive with a more mid present growl. It sounds very bright and snappy in parallel mode and very deep with muted highs in series mode.

The Alnico equipped bass has a fatter tone with less of a dramatic difference between series and parallel modes. It sounds a lot more like an SR4 but has its own character.

I love them both and would have a real hard time choosing between them.
