I'm thinking of bumping up my Axis SS to 11s and I'm wondering if I need to add another trem spring or two to compensate. Has anyone else done this? What were your experiences? Thanks.
I play 10/46 on my Axis Super Sport and on my Luke, and i've added a third spring to the tremolo. I think you have to have 3 tremolo springs for 11 gauge !
Thanks for the replies. There actually isn't much room left to tighten the trem claw after my jump from 9s to 10s. I'm thinking 4 springs might also cure some issues of strings returning sharp after trem use. This is even more pronounced with 11s than with 10s. Would it hurt anything to use 4 springs?
My bridge was lifting with a tone bend on the g,b,e strings,so I just added a fourth spring.
Great!Trem is a bit hard now but it ain't lifting with bends lol
This is not going to hurt the guitar right?10-46 guage
