Don't you think that the shape of the Bongo, looks like a toilet seat?
Yes. And that's all I'll say on the matter.

I'm quite fond of toilet seats. Aren't you? Consider the alternative!

Embrace the toilet seat. The toilet seat is your friend.

I got a little guitar
Her name is Bongo
She may look funny
But she is sweet

Plays so nice
Sounds even better
Even though she looks
Like a toilet seat

Seriously, the TS thing is very old and very tired. Everyone here has gotten over it, though you still run into it sometimes on Talkbass.

Take it off the wall, set everything flat and plug in - you'll see straight away what all the fuss is about.

For a little fun turn up the bass boost all the way and hit a low note ( hopefully without blowing up the amp ;) )

Whatever you do, don't come home with an HH model and proceed to rave about how great it is, I can't afford to get tempted into buying another right now :D :D :D

I have not played either a Sterling or an SR, but I can tell you that the neck feel of the Bongo is very comfortable. It is quite simply the most responsive bass I have ever played - the range of intonation is fabulous - and that's with everything set at mid range. As for the toilet seat thing - get a Stealth finish - nothing toilet seat about that, more reminiscent of the Batmobile.........(newer version).

Do you want a Bongo, why yes you do. I have a Bongo 5H that I bought without ever playing one, it came in last week and it is without a doubt the best playing, most versitile, best sounding bass I've ever played. Get one, if you don't like it, we'll buy it from you. :D

I have a Lava Pearl and a Stealth......both are awesome. I prefer the Stealth as it is my weapon of choice......but, I have the LE on order with single pup....so, we'll see.....

Play them all and then decide is the best advice. Pick the one that makes you feel all good inside....no matter the model.

Toilet seat...sure......but you don't crap on a toilet seat.......most peeps who see mine compliment the design.....

Drew,

I gotta feel for you, man. I was so hooked on the Sterling neck that I ordered one. It's not gonna be here probably until there is snow on the ground or Santa brings it.

So I found this:

Oh, wait, sorry, wrong Tokyo stomper... I found this:

Huh, both pictures above kick a$$. I hope it gets to me before the end of July.

So I guess I've got mucho gas and I'm thankful I can just clock some overtime and get both, but I think now in retrospect, because the neck of the Bongo does feel good (yeah, I know, perhaps not as good as the Sterling for you and me, Drew), I would go with the Bongo if I had to choose.

If you like the Bongo's neck the question shouldn't be, "Do I want a Bongo?" The real question is, "Which Bongo do I want?" The 6 flavors of Bongos each bring something different to the table. You have the 4H, 4HH, 4HS and then the 5H, 5HH, and 5HS... and then you can add a piezo on to them... OH MY, THE CHOICES!!!
Each one rocks in its little way (but try the H... you won't be sorry!)

Hey Drew - YOUR guitar has to desired by YOU. If you have misgivinigs about an instrument DON'T BUY IT! If you buy on someone else's advice but don't like the instrument yourself then it won't be long before you are trading for what you really want. Go to the store try the Stingray, Sterling, and Bongo then buy what your mind, heart, and hands tell you to buy! We will of course require pics of whatever bass you end up with.:)
