Ok so here's my dilema.

I want a HS Sterling in Blue Dawn. I've been waiting for some Blue dawn pics since it was announced, and now that the're here I'm totaly in love with it!!!!

However I was at our local music store the other day and hanging there, in all it's glory, is a HS Sterling in Pacific blue burst with a white ice pickguard and Maple neck......Stunning.

So here's is my dilema. Do I want to own an AWSOME HS sterling now......or a FRIGGEN AMAZING AWSOME SUPERSTAR HS stering in 6-8 months? It's hurting my brain, I don't know what to do

I gotta stop going to the music shop!!! Best thing that can happen to me is that it will get sold. ;)

I'm a fan of "Now".

Here's whats id do if i were in your shoes.

1) check out the current stable.
1a) is the HS Sterling gonna make a HUGE impact on the stable?
1a part 2) probably yes

2) call a dealer and price out a blue dawn
2a) what's the deposit required? 20%, 50%?

3) if you can swing the deposit buy the pac blue burst and put a deposit on the blue dawn

this will give you 6-8 month to bond with the pac blue burst. you'll either realize its a keeper or not. if not put her up for sale 5 months from now to fund the rest of the blue dawn. if its a keeper, then you have 6-8 months to either off other non-keeper gear to fund the blue dawn or save up the difference.

one of the good things about the 6-8 month wait time is the exact same as the "bad thing".... youve got 6-8 months to figure things out financially. most dealers probably wont charge you the entire price up front. ive been charged anywhere from $200-$500 for a deposit.

also, dont forget... the order window for the blue dawn is open for probably another 6 months. so you dont have to place an order (aka depost) till then.

so i guess im saying buy the pac blue NOW and use the waiting time and order window to your advantage while you figure out how to gather the $ to fund the blue dawn.

best case... you get the pac blue now. you love it and its a keeper. then in 4 months you swing enough $ to put a deposit on the blue dawn... then 10 montsh from now you can pay off the balance once its ready. and that way youll have 2 awesome basses... one NOW and one later :)

I say play the one there and let the sound decide.

As has been stated many times before here, no two instruments will ever sound the same. If the one in Pacific Blue Burst plays well and you really like the sound, I say pull the trigger. If you order one, it may sound different to you and you may regret not getting the earlier one.

Just my two cents..

my motto is "buy right the first time" Make your decision with your head and not your heart and you will be happy in the long run. If I can think of any more clichés I'll come back... ;)

We Canadians are forced to suffer through 6 month of agonising winter. On top of that we're not allowed to order Musicman instruments from our cousins to the south!!!!! ;) Nature is so unfair!!

There is some great advice, however buying two HS sterlings are not possible at this time, unless y'all donate generously to the "Get a freezing canadian off the street and into a warm home with a Blue Dawn Sterling" fund :D I did try the beast when I saw it, and that's what gave me the urge to whip out my Visa. the extra Pickup, made me forget that I went in there to try a P-bass.

I'm an impulsive guy, so not buying that gorgeous intrument was quite an accomplishment for me. But It's still gnawing at me!!!! I guess since the order window is gonna be open for a while, I still have time to decide what to do, and in the mean time, if the Blueburst sells......I'll still come out a winner with a blue dawn order!:D

Pacific blue burst is indeed an awsome color especiay with an ice pickguard! If I didn't want a Blue dawn so much it would already be home and I'd be posting pictures of it on this forum. I may still get it :D

OK! now that was just mean. ;)

I'm trying sooooooo hard to keep my $$ for the blue dawn. You're all like my shoulder devil and you've tied up my angel and stuffed him in a closet!:D

I'm actualy starting to convince myself that I prefer blue burst rather that blue dawn. Either way my next bass will be blue
