Wow ... Ripper's case rules. That is freakin' fantastic.

I keep mine out. They're all on a stand in my basement except Morse #23 and Bongo which are on a stand in my office, use those to record ideas all the time. At least two get played every day. And in the winter I run a humidifier to keep the climate reasonable ... never had a problem.

(When it's time for kids or a dog I'll re-evaluate.)

Hey Ripper, that chest of drawers are perfect. I should get my brother-in-law to make one for me. You must be single or have an a very understanding wife.

No pets. I keep mine in a gig bag. Would prefer to keep it in a case but it's too much hassle when I need to get it out or bring it to gigs.

Please remember if you leave your Balls out, you must control humidity! 40-45% humidity will keep things ideal. Much more or less, and you run the risk of going through intonations and adjustments that could otherwise be controlled with a humidifier or dehumidifier! Mine are hanging on a wall away from pets and halflings.

Ripper great idea

I have a JP 6 , I keep it in the case, but I 've noticed that when I get it out of the case and tune it the notes on each strings are a little sharp.
I assume that is because the case is pressing a little on the tremolo arm , although they have that special cavity inside for the tremolo arm.
has anyone noticed that?

I've never come across that issue. You do have the trem bar parallel with the neck right? I've never experienced that with a standard JP though.

the best climate for guitars are at room temperature (24 degrees) with low humidity. Thats the best temperature for timber

Thats not room temperature unless you live in Antarctica.

Keep them in their cases when you don't play them, it's a Murphy's law prevention policy

Who is this guy "Murphy" anyway?

My Pet is around the rehearsal room (my mates bedroom) hanging from a wall hanger.
I keep one of my balls out all the time in my loft room - I rotate using them 'cos I love them all!! (nobody else uses the room). My other balls are cased.

Cased. And yet they still get mystery nicks and dents.

I have two cats and one of them once decided one of my custom ESP's was a good scratching post and gnaw toy. After that I cased everything. Once my daughter gets old enough to walk I'll lock them too.

You really should, dog. Its so convenient for me to store the guitars, takin them in & out everyday.

I am not single, and yes I have a very understanding wife - She just approved my next new ball (primo gear!!) and its on its way!!! Actually I am equally understanding as well - tucked away all my guitars when not in use, neater I guess. ;)

:D That's extremely cool, brother

....and just for the record: all my Balls are in their cases, only the Godin is permitted to rest in a stand all the time

And by the way: The cat does not touch my guitars anymore, after it had some sort of accicent :p

Correct me if I’m wrong because I forget my source. I was told or I read that leaving your guitar on those stands with the rubber hoses for long periods of time, the rubber can eat away at the guitars polyester finish.

True, depending on the "rubber". Can also be the other way round with nitrocell finishes, if I got that correctly. That's weird....you get guitars eaten up by stands that are eaten up by guitars
