Ok, you've piqued my interest on Ruthenium. What the heck is that and why would you use it?

It's a great looking platinum related metal used for plating, that gives hardware a gun metal look. Everyone's favourite Schaller M6 tuners are available with a Ruthenium finish.

Ruthenium, the Black Pearl of Schaller! | Schaller-Electronic

Nearly opted to have my bridge plate stripped and plated this time around to go with new tuners, but changed my mind as I couldn't quite see it fitting in well enough to "look right" with the other mods I went for to remain tasteful.

Might still revisit this, later this year.

The JPX is MY guitar. There is nothing I would change.... well, I lied. I'd add more colors to the line.. that's about it.

Al SSS with maple neck and rosewood board.....luv me some rosewood with my singles.
JP with maple board (already mentioned, but great idea).
Transblack Y2D with ebony board.
JP with relocated selector switch.
Axis with vintage trem or ASS with no tone (already mentioned, but great idea).
Reverse headstock options for Axis, Jp, Y2D and Reflex.

I'm not sure where to find one, but I know there are stacked volume pots. Inner for one pickup volume, outer for the other. I'm thinking about my Valentine radar detector. It has one.
Dual concentric pots. Stewmac used to sell them, but I can't see them on the site right now.

I used them on my Morse when I added the piezo. Neat, but you definitely have to be careful not to adjust both at the same time.

That's pretty classy looking. Kind of reminds me of the finish fancy bathroom fixtures have, and I mean that in a good way.

I found some at All Parts. They even have one that's 250/500. I probably won't use it if I have to be careful though. Maybe I'll just turn my tone pot into another volume pot.

I have always found that the guitars that standout and are the most player friendly-usually your #1- are the ones that are best suited for mods. You have to feel that bond that this ax is going to be with you for a long -long time and throw resale value or any other notions out the window as this is your tool of the trade. Then make whatever changes you deem benefit your tone and style, even if it calls for routing or drilling as you are basically creating your own sig. I have 3 guitars that have been heavily tricked out and have been with me for close to or over two decades and will be with me until I go six feet under.

As beej already stated I find the use of a tone pot essential especially with single coils, theres a lot you can do with that little knob.

You know what I've always wanted, a JP either standard loaded 6 or BFR, w/maple fretboard. It's just something that you dont' see.

Pickups.... And.... Well both :)

I like the Dimarzio Area pickups for single coils. For the bridge humbucker, it really depends on what kind of music that you play. The thing that I wonder about is having a single volume control for the humbucker and the single coils. 250k or 500k? Or as I discovered from this thread, you can buy a concentric volume pot that has both.
