3 weks ago on Oct 15th we discharged 5 roll trailers loaded with some incredibly shaped, 1000 years old tree stumps originating from (Ghana) Takoradi's rain forest and I am told these trees fell naturally and were not cut down by man.
I had no idea why these arrived here but I then learnt a lady artist is having them for a climate change themed art exibition.
Today she came to visit me in port with her entourage making arrangements with her haulier company that will take these trees first to Trafalgar Square (around Nelson's Column) and then to Copenhagen for a similarly themed exibition, she gave me her website and it's very interesting what she is doing and why, wood is important to the planet and the environment.
Before I show you some amazing pics of what I've got out here, have a look at this artist web page and see what she is trying to achieve: Angela Palmer | Artist
I think those are beautiful pieces of wood, and the funny thing is that the more I was hearing about exotic wood the more I kept thinking... I bet that Mr. Ball and his team would be able to make a hundred beatuiful basses (if not more) out of these stumps, a' la Redwood, but that is just me being sadistic.
