Ok, I am bored sat at work and was just thinking about this as I would sell my own sister (the older one) for an AL loaded with MM90 yet I have probably only ever heard one Albert Lee track so wouldnt consider myself a fan.

Got me thinking how many of you have bought a signature model based purely on the guitar and not the artist?

Over to you...

Yup, AL and JP. I had heard of AL before and some of his playing with Clapton and such. JP, had never heard of Dream Theater. Though once I heard An Evening with JP and Jordan Rudess, I loved it. High recommended.

I can´t answer this with yes.
I own a Morse and am a big fan.
At the moment I am not considering to buy a Luke, a JP or a AL. That´s not because I don´t like their playing, it´s because the Morse-Guitar is at the moment the ultimate git for me. 2 Humbuckers and 2 SC´s = unbeatable. A JP-Model has no SC and a Luke has not a Humbucker in the neck position.

In the last weeks, since I´m in these forum, I started listen to DT & and I like both.

The music of Toto is a thing which is (in my ears) a relic of the 80s/90s. The newer playing of Luke is very nice, but I have not listened so much. I think it´s not as unique as Morse for example. So I cannot hear Lukather when I don´t know he´s playing. I have to listen more to his playing, because I believe he´s great

Never listented to Albert Lee.

But if I buy another git (maybe, not planned at the moment, because I am very satisfied), I cannot imagine that it is not a EBMM

Btw. Did any Les Paul player ever listened to Les Paul? I mean, it is a signature guitar of Les Paul :)

Check out Toto's latest for some fantastic Lucious loveliness!

As for Les Paul, its the opposite for me...I used to listen to lots of his stuff and love it but I have never played a Les Paul I liked and I have never been a fan of the look.

Actually, I own two siggy guitars of a musician that I am not a fan of - albeit not MusicMen (I am a Petrucci fan, so I'll skip that one):

I own two maple neck Yngwie Strats one standard (with a few electronic mods) and one which I routed for HSS and overworked the electronics on. They are simply two of the best Strats I have ever played... and unless MusicMan decides to do a scalloped AL or Silo Spec. I'll be hanging on to these two babies untill the hairs in my nose outgrow the ones on my head...

Cheers

Huge fan of EVH (or was, rather - let's not go there), and I stupidly sold 2 EVHs and my Axis. I am now longing for one badly!

I do love my AL though, and never had heard any of his music before I got the guitar.

I LOVE JP & Dream Theater and was well familiar with all of their stuff long before he was an EBMM endorsee and (obviously) before I got my JP.

I am a huge Steve Morse fan - and I like the Dregs quite a bit too. But I have never been drawn to the Morse - until the Y2D - it's got me all confused at the moment...... :)

For me i went for the Axis probably 30% cos of the EVH connection and the rest for looks and playability. Next up is a Luke and its probably more like 60% Luke but thats cos I have only played one for about 5 minutes but I sure do like the looks!

I also love DT and Steve Morse so I guess the next few months are gonna be hard on the savings!

Texas Finally!
I bought my Luke because of the pick up config and type of pickups but always loved Toto and just about anything else Luke has done.
My other choice at the time I bought my Luke was a JP but because I wanted the EMG thats the direction I went, Dream Theater rocks! I like the Al and love his playing the only sig model that holds no interest is the B Madden not a fan and just did not like the guitar that much.

I have only owned one signature model. That's my JP6. Been a fan of Petrucci since 1995 when I finally understood what Dream Theater were all about. He remains one of my two favorite guitarists. Hendrix is the other one. Of course, there are other favorites, but JP and Hendrix really grab me more than anyone else.

I have certainly wanted other signature guitars, but this is my first. It's not my last. I plan on owning more JPs (BFR and original), at least one Luke, a Y2D, and an AL or two. I'm a Lucious fan, but not an "obsessive" as DaveB calls my love of DT and JP. I appreciate Morse, but I'm not a fanatic about him either. AL? Same thing as Morse.
