I'm reasonable but not anal. I can be a bit clumsy. A few years back I bought a brand new F****r Pbass and I have a low hanging ceiling fan that I forgot was on and I put it over my head to strap it on and baaannngg. I was sooo pissed. It put a big gouge in the back of the headstock but luckily had no affect on playability. I ended up flipping it:eek:

I don't beat 'em, but I don't polish them often either.

My black one always got beaten up, smelled like ass, was caked in sweat. Played like a dream.

My green one was babied.

It's meant to be played, so I don't care if it gets some scratch, dings and other small damages. I care about neck relief, action, p-u and strings height...Sometimes I wipe the finger prints off the body and neck.
And I'm washing my car only once or two in a year...

i lit my fretless pbass on fire a couple times to give it more character. when the smoke alarms starting going off and the room filled with deadly fumes I was a little worried. But the bass actually turned out looking pretty cool, and it smelled lie a BBQ pit for 2 months. I'd post pics, but I left that bass in new york because I shipped out.
But I take pretty good care of my 2 MMs....and soon I'll have 2 DDs to pamper!

I take care off all of my basses. There are some dings in my used ones, but I have found it is pretty hard to ding one of these finishes. I have bumped one or two expecting to see a ding, but only to find a small mar that wipes off. I agree they are meant to be played, but I take care of them so they will be around longer and still look nice.

Do you guys use the polishing cloth that came with your MM for polishing or do you guys use extra treatment to keep it nice. Also what about the fretboard? Whats the best way to maintain its newness? I'm getting my Buttercream HH really soon and want to keep it looking nice :D

I use my EB cloth to give my basses a quick wipe when I'm done playing. I also use lemon oil on my fingerboards, usually every time I change strings (once every few months).
