Curious how and if anyone uses the mutes on the Stingray classic.

What situations do you use the mutes?

Are they an always on thing for you?

Or do you only use them on a particular song?

What do they add or take away from the overall sound when used?

Thanks

Yes I like them but obviously I don't use them all of the time.We sometimes play songs from Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and they are ideal for that type of sound that Waters or was it Gilmour gets on the LP. With mutes engaged, flatwound strings and a good thick pick you can easily get that old school Fender Bassman 53 tone that can be heard on songs like Money and Breathe etc.

I prefer my own less powerful mutes, which are
adjustable but never 100% disengaged. Having
no use for extended sustain, no problem for me.
And being adjustable on the fly, they can be far
more muted than the built-in MM mutes and yet
instantly adjusted to less, and down to minimal.

You can kinda almost see my mutes in another
thread ... it some fuzzy stuff tied to the strings
and can be slid back and forth to adjust degree
of muting. Slid tight to the bridge it's minimal
in effect. If you look close you can see the gray
fuzzy stuff tied on by blue things, between the
bridge and the [super amazing] PG.
