The silhouette bass guitar (SN # G07272) arrived via fedex this morning (On a Saturday!) I am on my way to register it but I had a couple of questions. According to the color chart there is no purple offered any more. I know it's purple but in case an interior decorater asks, what color is it? Also, is there any structual difference between tuned A to A and one octave down? Or are they just different strings? What are the gauges for both tunings you recommend? (Super Slinky Pink) Finally a DOB would be nice. This gives me 4 silhouetts, a Steve Morse model and the silhouette bass. I'll try to post a picture soon.

Silhouette bass guitar Pearl Purple(discontinued)
8/99 DOB

A to A is a cool tuning for this instrument. However different gauges are used. From high to low as follows : .013 , .018p .30w, .44w, .56w .72w .

The normal E-E tuning is a .20-.90 set. If you were to switch to an A-A tuning be aware there is less tension so you would have to intonate the guitar, and the nut slots would be wider so there may be some extra vibration do to the smaller string size overall. If this was the overall prefered tuning it may be wise to have a new nut installed.

Thanks

Derek
